Redefining “Pens Down” eKasi 🧡 This week, the majority of learners in my community received their reports, marking the official closure of schools. It's now "Pens Down" season eKasi – a time when young people often engage in (illegal) alcohol consumption and partying to celebrate this milestone or perhaps to "drown their sorrows." In a society plagued with social ills like alcoholism and drug addiction, where "fun" is predominantly associated with partying, it's crucial to reflect on annual events like these "pens down" celebrations that have become a norm in our society. Why are these events characterized by underage drinking and partying? Why do we observe more of this in township communities? Is this a result of our background, upbringing, or influences? Are people in these communities not exposed enough to other forms of entertainment? I have many questions and even more potential answers to these issues. One thing is certain: change doesn’t come from conversation alone; we need to take action. This year, I am proud to host some of our learners from the after-school club for an exciting games day. I'm not claiming this is the ultimate solution, but I'm happy to know that we will be giving a few learners a different perspective on what a "pens down" celebration looks like and exposing them (especially those who haven’t participated in something like this) to a broader view of what can be considered as fun, outside of what has been popularized. #impact #growthmindset #millennialmindsetfoundation #purposedrivenleadership #purposedriven #socialentrepreneur #socialenterprise

📊 #VALORANTChampions 2024's opening day records similar peak to 2023. The opening day of Champions 2024 featured Gen.G facing off against Sentinels and Team Heretics playing FunPlus Phoenix. According to statistics from each of the major Riot Games VALORANT regional circuits in Stage 2 of this year, each of these teams ranks within their own region’s top 5 most popular teams by Average Viewers. These two series generated 2.86M Hours Watched in total and received 652.8K Peak Viewers during Gen.G vs Sentinels. To be clear, these numbers are not particularly worrying. Average viewership dropped by only 10.7%, and peak concurrent viewership by only 1.3%. The Valorant Champions 2024 event has already become the fourth-most popular Valorant tournament of 2024 by peak concurrent viewership on its first day.
