https://lnkd.in/e63Wp6ra Although this is good news for vulnerable people who have not been supported, this is neither a new or unpreventable situation!! Many of us in the industry saw the issues 5 or 6 years ago. But instead of the phone providers working with both the customer and telecare providers (who very much tried to work with the phone providers!) they instead continuously pushed the responsibility away from themselves and denied any issues. Many telecare providers have continued to work hard to create and test reliable technology's that do not need to be connected to these phone lines/broadband routers being issued, to replace these analogue systems (where some have insisted would continue to work, without truly knowing) but fundamentally, the responsibility of providing a reliable phone system (i.e able to phone out even if there's a power cut!) AND checking customers telecare continue to work (or advise them it doesn't so they can advise their telecare provider in a timely manner) is solely on these phone providers such as BT and Virgin! This is very much trying to close the barn door after the horse has bolted!

Hypothetical scenario for a broadband provider: You make an investment with a vendor to build your network/wifi/management software today because they make big promises and are less expensive. Three years down the road, they’re no longer interested in the market or are not in good financial shape so they don’t dedicate support resources to help your team as issues arise. Your network, as technology does, has issues that needs fixed as time goes on. But again, no resources to help, so your team has big problems and is scrambling for help. Meanwhile your customers are having a terrible experience. ^^^This is a very real scenario we will see in the coming years, as we have in the past. Be wise on who you invest your future with.
