•Healthcare Leadership •Clinical Governance and Education •Influencing the Trajectory of Aged Care •Creating Holistic and Sustainable Care for Older People •
This could be a game changer! I published an article yesterday on mandatory reporting which spoke to a statistic from KPMG’s Aged Care Market Analysis (2022). That report found 96% of Australians in residential care had needs associated with cognition and behaviour management. We know as clinicians and providers of care, cognitive impairment and brain change is one of the biggest challenges when delivering care to consumers. The population of elderly in Residential Aged Care (RAC) that have some form of brain change far exceeds the current resources required to respond to such a dynamic health issue. We need true investment into care staff education to be equipped with the skills, and the knowledge, to deliver such complex care. If this peptide works, this will be a life-line for those effected by brain change, and the associated demands such complex care places on the aged care workforce. This would offer 'time back to care', allowing providers to deliver more holistic care to all, and allowing those effected by brain change to truly live a more peaceful and fulfilling life, for longer. May this trial bring home the results we need. With more early-onset cases than ever, we need this now.
Some exciting news out of Japan on the new research into Alzheimer's treatment. Alzheimer's disease has long been one of the most challenging neurodegenerative conditions, and any breakthrough offers a beacon of hope for millions of individuals and their families. At BESTMED, our commitment to efficient and accurate electronic medication management is already making a significant impact in ensuring that residents receive their essential treatments promptly and correctly, correctly prescribed to the highest levels of conformance in the industry. The potential of peptides in treating Alzheimer's, as highlighted by the research from the Okinawa Institute, could represent a paradigm shift in how we approach this disease. If peptides can indeed stop or reverse cognitive decline, this would could replace time sensitive medications like Donepezil and Galantamine, offering a alternative approach to treatment. The role of electronic medication management is crucial in the fight against Alzheimer's, and by staying at the forefront of medical advancements, BESTMED continues to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by this debilitating disease. #alzheimers #research #medication #emm #conformance Phil Hannah Baktash Naomi Surinder Kyle Ben Amanda

A Moment I’ll Always Be Proud Of: My Front Cover Publication on Alzheimer's Disease Risk Factors 🧠 In 2017, I had the honour of publishing a front-cover article in Interface Focus, the esteemed cross-disciplinary publication of the The Royal Society. This study was the culmination of years of dedication and passion, delving deep into the early stages of Alzheimer's disease and exploring the risk factors associated with this debilitating condition. What made this achievement even more incredible was the global collaborative effort involved. Through EU-wide collaboration, brilliant minds from different corners of the scientific world came together, transcending borders and disciplines to unravel the mysteries of Alzheimer's Disease. It is through such collaborations that we can truly make a difference and bring forth transformative breakthroughs. 🌍 But let's not forget the importance of peer review in this process. As a researcher at heart, I understand that the scrutiny and validation offered by our peers are vital to maintaining the highest standards in our work. Peer review ensures that our findings are credible, accurate, and have a lasting impact on the scientific community. This publication represents not only my proudest moment as a researcher but also stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and the rigorous process of peer review. I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the fight against Alzheimer's disease and look forward to continued advancements in this field. Let's keep pushing boundaries and changing lives together! https://lnkd.in/ePUFDRGU #Science #AlzheimersDisease #EUcollaboration

Memories for Life "Memories for Life: Reversing Alzheimer's" stands as a profound cinematic exploration, narrated by the illustrious Grammy-winner Michael Bublé. This feature-length documentary delves into the heart of a groundbreaking medical breakthrough that offers not just hope, but tangible recovery to those afflicted by Alzheimer's disease. At its core is the pioneering work of Dr. Dale Bredesen, an esteemed American neurologist, who has crafted a revolutionary precision medicine protocol. By harnessing extensive laboratory data, Dr. Bredesen formulates personalized treatment plans that do more than halt the progression of cognitive decline—they reclaim the once-lost memories of patients. The narrative unfolds to reveal the gripping stories of individuals and families as they navigate the tumultuous seas of Alzheimer's, only to find a lifeline in this novel approach. The film offers a critical examination of why such a promising method has not found its rightful place within the echelons of mainstream medical research, despite the glaring need for effective treatment in the face of pharmaceutical shortcomings. "Memories for Life: Reversing Alzheimer's" is not just a documentary—it's a beacon of hope, challenging the status quo and redefining the fight against a relentless disease that erases the essence of our human experience. It's a must-see for anyone touched by the shadow of Alzheimer's, for healthcare professionals, and for those who believe in the power of innovation to change lives. The New York Times op-ed by Charles Piller, "All the Alzheimer's Research We Didn't Do," underscores the necessity of broadening our approach in Alzheimer’s research. While amyloid research is essential, we must also explore vascular health, inflammation, and tau proteins. At The Heart of the Solution, we champion a comprehensive strategy that addresses all contributing factors to Alzheimer's. By fostering an inclusive research environment that integrates diverse hypotheses, we increase our chances of finding effective treatments. Join us in supporting a multifaceted approach to tackle this multifactorial disease. Together, we can make significant strides in preventing and treating Alzheimer's. https://loom.ly/OsHf-AQ #Alzheimers #Research #VascularHealth #HealthCare #MultimodalApproach #Innovation

I just found this article in The Journal of Prevention of Alzheimer's Disease. I've been on a 4-year journey in the world of Digital Biomarkers, 🤩and I strongly acknowledge their impact on providing opportunities for clinical research to identify earlier signals of disease onset, monitor disease trajectory, or detect response to therapeutic treatment at a time. Well said in this article: 🙂 "Digital Health Technologies (DHT) continue to elucidate insights about domains such as cognitive function, sleep, mobility, language changes, and social and behavioral trends which will prove invaluable alongside traditional dementia research and management." Well, I believe it requires further efforts and strategies to introduce them to the medical sciences, more effectively. #digital_health_technologies #digital_biomarkers #cognitive_impairment
