📑 ECTRI replies to the public consultation on the greening of corporate fleets In support of the ambitious goals set under the European Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, which aim to reduce transport emissions by 90% by 2050 compared to 1990 levels, the European Commission has opened a public consultation on the greening of corporate fleets (06/02/2024 – 08/07/2024). The Commission highlights that corporate fleets for light and heavy-duty vehicles have high yearly mileage and rapid vehicle turnover, making them well-suited to accelerating the transition towards zero-emission mobility. This consultation targets corporate fleets of cars, vans, lorries, and coaches (excluding buses under public procurement) and seeks input on measures to expedite this transition. ECTRI welcomes the opportunity to contribute to this initiative and supports the European Commission in exploring measures to accelerate the shift to zero-emission vehicles, thereby advancing the EU's zero-emission targets for transport. Truckstop and travel center industry organisation NATSO has called on the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Iowa Department of Transportation to revise their National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program rules. Tiffany Wlazlowski Neuman of NATSO says the decision by the two departments to impose a 15% limit on profits generated by NEVI grant recipients shows a fundamental lack of understanding for the extraordinary risk and capital expenditures that the private sector must undertake to implement EV charging stations. #evcharging https://lnkd.in/eHxKvzhE

Industry leaders highlight EV demand challenge facing new government The newly-elected UK Government will need to reckon with stalling consumer demand for EVs, it has been said. The issue was addressed during the BVRLA’s Fleets in Charge conference, when industry leaders were asked how confident they were about the UK’s road to zero emissions, in the wake of the recent General Election.
