A damaging myth surrounding dogs, particularly puppies, when they get to their new homes is that, if the cry, they should be left alone so they learn to stay quiet overnight. This is absolutely not the best way to help that new family member feel safe and comfortable in their new home. From #BuildingTheBond: "A puppy is like a human child. They cry when there is something they need, including comfort and connection. If they do not get a response when they are crying then yes, they will stop, but not because they have settled. They have learned that nobody is coming and so they give up trying. This will have a serious and damaging effect on the bond between them and their family, and at probably the most vulnerable time in their lives emotionally. One of the most important things we can focus on in these early days and weeks of our shared lives is helping them to feel safe and secure and responding to their needs is absolutely the best way to go about this." In those early days have them sleeping close to you, and respond when they are distressed. It does not mean that they will always cry at night. It will, however, help them to realise that they are not alone and that they can sleep safe and sound knowing you are there if they need you during the night. Wow, this is powerful. The subject of my second thesis was empathic development, stemming from my hypothesis that interventions that could alter empathic development can change lives. This also demonstrates how sociological concepts like roles are powerful in offering life-changing perspective.

This dog became more than a pet—he became a partner, a reason to get up each day, a reminder of loyalty and unconditional love. BUILDING HOPE FOR PARALYZED DOGS One man is changing lives for paralyzed dogs, one wheelchair at a time. Seeing dogs struggle with mobility, he took it upon himself to design and build customized wheelchairs for them, giving these pups the chance to run, play, and experience the joy they thought was lost forever. For each dog, the wheelchair is more than just equipment—it’s a second chance at the life they deserve. This man’s compassion has given hope to families and their beloved pets, proving that one person’s kindness can make all the difference in the world. It’s a reminder that love isn’t just something we feel; it’s something we do. Hopefully, you enjoy my posts and will follow me on LinkedIn. 1.Misconceptions can occur: People assumed the dog was dead, highlighting how easily misconceptions can arise when not thoroughly assessed. 2. Importance of empathy: This situation emphasizes the significance of showing empathy and stopping to check on those in trouble, whether human or animal. 3. Taking action: Taking a moment to investigate and provide assistance can make a positive impact and potentially save a life, as seen in the dog's case. 4. Preventing regrets: Avoid the regret of not helping when you could have. Small actions can lead to meaningful outcomes. 5. Community responsibility: Looking out for others fosters a sense of community and compassion, creating a more caring environment for everyone. #kindness #help #helpinghands #empthy
