What are the options for sustainable antibiotic-free poultry production? Navigating ABF production processes demands improved poultry health. By eliminating the use of antibiotics for growth promotion, industry players are taking steps to safeguard the well-being of birds and address potential long-term human health implications. Biosecurity measures are implemented to prevent the introduction and spread of disease that can devastate animal health and welfare. Implementing strategies that reduce microbial loads, eliminate pathogens and provide long-term protection against subsequent contamination enhances our food chain's efficiency, productivity, safety and sustainability. Feed for food-producing animals is the most significant component within the global food industry as it is vital to producing enough animal protein for a growing population. Implementing strategies to keep feed clean requires a solution that: ▪️ Reduces microbial loads in raw ingredients and finished feed ▪️ Eliminates feed source pathogens ▪️ Provides residual protection of feed through prolonged activity Get the full guide below. https://hubs.ly/Q02CgdZb0

Using complex carbohydrates in poultry feed has proven to be an effective strategy for combating Salmonella. Products like Cascade have shown great promise in reducing the prevalence and load of Salmonella, leading to safer poultry production and better animal health. One of the key ingredients in Cascade is mannan-oligosaccharides. These unique compounds can reduce Salmonella from sticking to the gut lining, which helps reduce its colonization. This not only makes food safer but also supports the overall health of the poultry. For the poultry industry, adopting these nutritional strategies is essential. By incorporating complex carbohydrates into their feed, producers can significantly lower pathogen loads, fostering a healthier and more sustainable production environment.

Healthy livestock rely on safe, nutritious feed, where organic acids and Monoglycerides and diglycerides (MAGs) play a vital role. This approach is fundamental in ensuring animal well-being and overall health. High standards in feed preservation and hygiene are imperative for feed mill managers, producers, and farmers. By focusing on hygienic feed that is nutrient-rich and low in pathogens, the welfare of animals is enhanced, leading to reduced veterinary costs and improved production efficiency. The use of organic acids in feed helps in maintaining feed-food biosecurity, protecting both animal health and the broader food supply chain. These acids are safer and more effective in controlling pathogens compared to traditional methods like formaldehyde, supporting overall animal performance and health. Strategic combinations of organic acids and bioactive compounds are key in optimizing pathogen control in feeds. Supported by: Eastman

Spirulina (Athrospira sp.) is an edible microalga and a highly nutritious potential feed resource for many agriculturally important animal species. Research findings have associated Spirulina to improvements in animal growth, fertility, aesthetic and nutritional product quality. Spirulina intake has also been linked to an improvement in animal health and welfare. Its influence over animal development stems from its nutritive and protein-rich composition, thus leading to an increased commercial production to meet consumer demand. Consequently, Spirulina is emerging as a cost-effective means of improving animal productivity for a sustainable and viable food security future. However, our present knowledge of animal response to dietary Spirulina supplementation is relatively scanty and largely unknown. The primary objective of this content was to review past and current findings on the utilisation of Spirulina as a feed supplement and its impact on animal productivity and health. Only animals deemed to be of agricultural significance were investigated; only Aquaculture, ruminants, poultry, pigs, swine, rabbits and their responses to dietary Spirulina supplementation are covered.

A holistic approach to livestock feed management is essential for optimal animal health and performance. Integrating organic acids and monoglycerides supports gut health and reduces stress, particularly during critical phases like weaning. This strategy enhances nutrient absorption, bolsters immune function, and mitigates risks of disease. Addressing dietary stress with quality feed ingredients reduces gut inflammation and improves barrier function. High-quality, hygienic raw materials alongside organic acids ensure a balanced gut microflora, crucial for young livestock's growth and health. Incorporating a blend of short- and medium-chain fatty acids into feed optimizes digestive processes and microbial balance. This comprehensive approach not only supports animal welfare but also contributes to sustainable farming practices by enhancing feed efficiency and reducing reliance on antibiotics. A little while ago, we caught up with Dr Allen McDonald, Director of Technical Services from our sister company Global Animal Products to talk about the benefits ZinMet®offer to poultry. With more than 20 years of experience in animal nutrition industry, Allen has a host of knowledge on how specific organic trace minerals assist intensive feeding and meat industries. In this video, Allen highlights how the inclusion of our quality-specific organic trace mineral ZinMet®can improve production in broilers with increased meat yield, performance, average daily gain, and feed conversion rates. “It’s the impact of the zinc and the methionine that is more highly absorbable, it’s the impact that has on the energy efficiency of the animal and they’re able to capture more energy and convert that to meat. I believe there is a growing opportunity for poultry in Australia to utilise ZinMet®.” Learn more about the benefits ZinMet offers poultry at zinmet.com.au/poultry #austasiaanimalproducts #globalanimalproducts #poultry #ZinMet
