Have you seen Lyle's Golden Syrup's first logo rebrand in 140 years❓ After becoming the Guinness World Records holder for having the world’s oldest logo, Lyle’s dead lion swarmed by flies logo has been replaced on their plastic bottles with a more stylised version of a lion’s head with a single bee above it. However, their syrup tins have retained their original logo. The syrup company hopes their rebrand will better appeal to the modern consumer market. What do you think of the new logo❓ #rebrand #brandidentity

All the years I've looked at this and never realised the lion was dead and surrounded by flies 😬

This is cool. I love that they were able to retain the communication and feel of the original logo. Unlike most recent logo redesigns where brands are adapting minimalism at the expense of the logo's eccentric message, this brand has tried to be consistent despite adopting the same minimalist approach.

I'd be lion if I didn't think that (A) it is a lot 'easier on the eye' whilst remaining sympathetic to the historical branding and (B) I make no excuse for the leonine pun. #roar

As both a creative and a Christian, I'm grappling with the rebrand. While the updated packaging is visually beautiful, the decision to remove the original illustration and Christian message seems shortsighted to me. The rationale that it might alienate certain groups feels off. It's a paradox—promoting inclusivity while erasing a significant aspect of heritage. With millions identifying as Christian, including myself, it's puzzling why there's sudden concern about brand heritage. History can't be changed, so why not embrace it fully?
