I've learned that if I go into a meeting with plans for how everyone else will behave... There's at least a 50/50 chance I'll be let down. At work, it's natural to create an idea for how we want a conversation to go. We schedule out every sentence and plan for certain responses, like it's a script. But here's the thing: People just don't follow those scripts I make up in my head! I heard somebody express frustration after a recent meeting. They said, "Well, that didn't go how I planned." Of course it didn't. People are unpredictable! And in that moment, is the person in that situation more frustrated because something went wrong or because things just didn't go the way they wanted? I expect it's the latter. I've found that eliminating my expectations going into conversations has also eliminated a lot of the stress around conversations. I try to hedge my bets. Focus on what I can control in the situation— What I am going to do and say. That's all we can do, right? --------- If you're interested in joining the Hoffmann Brothers team, we're looking to fill a number of positions in both St. Louis and Nashville. You can see the open positions and how to apply at this link, and feel free to message me if you have any questions. https://lnkd.in/eznwzS9T

11 years ago, on this weekend, I went with my two Atlanta roommates to Monster Jam. Not a care in the world — days before I started my new job. (Look how young and carefree we were, Sai and Robert!) My work goals back then? Show up on time and hit/exceed metrics. Unofficial goals? Start the company’s first softball team (co-credit to Robert Jones), win Halloween and summer contests, make new friends, and earn a decent paycheck. All that to say… Leaders: Don’t expect new hires to look or act like you. They aren’t going to have your same convictions and passion on day one. If they have the raw material you’re looking for, develop it. Invest in them. Show them the way instead of just telling them. They may surprise you! New hires: Don’t compare your first chapter to someone else’s book series. Just do your best — every day. Someone will notice. And if they don’t? Well, VocoVision is hiring! 😉 #workanniversary

The past 2.5 years have been a whirlwind, marked by three roles, three layoffs, and a move from Philadelphia to Boston. I want to share the story behind the headlines on my resume, offering some context that I hope will resonate with many who’ve faced similar challenges. At Getta (formerly Gettacar), I led the vehicle delivery organization, overseeing a team of 20 and ensuring that over 200 vehicles were delivered monthly from Connecticut to Virginia. With leadership from our CMO Thomas Wengrowski, Kevin Delisme and I were able to consistently improve the NPS scores of the delivery team and build a solid foundation for growth. However, as market conditions shifted, the company had to pivot, leading to the closure of our delivery team and, eventually, the company itself. Not long after, I joined Starry Internet working for Jane Huschka and Rene Villegas as the Marketing Operations Manager, a role that played to my strengths in interdepartmental collaboration, project management, and problem-solving. In just a few months, I helped streamline our project management system and improved operational efficiency. But again, market realities forced a significant restructuring, and my time there was cut short. After nearly a year of intense job searching and countless interviews, I became the Director of Operations at the Chris Kostopoulos Group at Keller Williams in Boston. I leveraged data to optimize our sales processes, explored new marketing strategies, and led our social media efforts. Unfortunately, as the real estate market in Boston declined, my role was eliminated. These experiences, while challenging, have sharpened my focus and clarified my vision for the future. I am now more determined than ever to find a role where I can achieve stability and continued growth, applying the lessons I've learned to contribute meaningfully to a team and organization. My path may have had its twists and turns, but it has also given me a clearer sense of the direction I want to go. To anyone else navigating similar storms, know that you’re not alone. The journey may be tough, but it’s also where we grow the most.

Back in February I was one of over 100 people let go from my tech job as an AE ( I was an Account Manager at the same company before that). It was my first job in tech and I honestly loved it. After some time and incredible training and an amazing team, I began to excel in the position. I truly felt like I was getting better all the time. After numerous layoffs after our acquisition and a shifting C-suite I could see the writing on the wall and honestly got burnt out. Not by the job but by the uncertainty. I was applying to other AE and Account Managment positions but not with my full mind and heart. I needed to support my family quick (single momma). So I pivoted to open Consciously Clean, an eco cleaning company. It was a gamble but I felt like I could build it and scale it in a sustainable way. Then in May a close friend and colleague I had worked on creating event workshops/yoga for a festival asked if I would join her in opening a Yoga and Wellness Studio in a cute, little (but up and coming) town outside Austin. I thought, “why not” “How hard can it be” Starting 2 businesses with very little capital and only so much time and energy proved to be more than I had signed up for. While I had big plans for Consciously Clean from creating a non profit arm in time to help support single parents, neither business was financially growing in a sustainable way. It took me some time, trial and error, market research and grounded realism to come to terms with what I needed for even one of these businesses to flourish. I also realized I missed being part of a team, talking to people about their challenges and needs and offering a viable solution. Due to the shifting times I truly desire to be back in seat. I love the process of prospecting, talking to people, digging deep, guiding them and consulting with them on a solution. I have learned so much from creating these businesses. I would still someday love to create a way to resource single parents better. However, right now I need to find a way to better resource myself. If you know anyone looking for a hard working, resilient, team player please reach out!!

Digital Analytics Consultant | Web, Social, Search, CRM | I Optimize Marketing ROI & Drive Measurable Growth in Lead Gen & Customer Acquisition
You know what's truly scary this Halloween? Discovering that your job, alongside other dedicated and hardworking colleagues, has been impacted by staffing reductions without any prior notice or transparency they might be in radar. It's disheartening when leadership doesn't openly communicate the current direction and health of the business, and fails to extend the courtesy of a heads-up to the employees they value, so they can better prepare for what might be up ahead. Despite this challenging situation, I want to emphasize that my time at Sedgwick was truly rewarding. The people I had the privilege to work with and the projects I contributed to are experiences I will always cherish. This journey has helped me forge meaningful connections and develop valuable skills that will undoubtedly shape my future career path. Moving forward, I'm choosing to focus on the positives. I'm excited to dive into personal passion projects, sharpen my skills, and seek out new opportunities where I can provide exceptional value and go the extra mile. I'm confident that this setback will ultimately lead to growth and new beginnings. If you've made it this far, thank you for reading and for being a part of my network. Your support means more than you know, and I look forward to staying connected as I embark on this next chapter. #Sedgwick #layoffs #newbeginnings #digitalanalytics #growththroughchallenges

I help companies build strategic plans to increase revenue | improve employee performance | optimize employee engagement | boost public engagement | champion philanthropy
Are we really just a number in the eyes of organizations? This post below is the perfect example of an organization not caring about their employee's well-being. Laid off 3 days after giving birth and her notification was an email. Remember that your well-being to include your physical health, mental health and that of your family's is priority. A great medical leader that talks about the importance of balancing work, health and life is Jaiden Cole-Miskel MD. Something to keep in mind as you remain hopeful- when one door closes, another opens. #lifebalance #health
Day 3 postpartum, via text from a peer is how I found out I was laid off. I’ve been struggling to find the words while I work to intentionally pour my energy into our firstborn son. While I am saddened and disheartened by how I was informed of this news (yes, I received an email — but who’s checking their email when they just left the hospital?), I believe that everything happens for a reason. I’ll be taking the new few months to adjust to this new chapter of parenthood, one of the greatest blessings. I’ll be picking up my job search in Q1 with a focus on roles around Sales Enablement and Sales Development Leadership. I’ve led sales enablement initiatives for the last 5+ years, and that specific aspect of my roles has brought me energy and fulfillment! I’m excited about the opportunity to grow my skillsets and interests. If you or someone you know is hiring in the future, I’d be so grateful for an introduction. I’ll be looking for remote or hybrid roles in the Indianapolis area. Onward!
