I had an enlightening day learning about Essential Requirements Practices with Karl Wiegers for 2 hours 😇 . Some highlights from the conversations: Business rules can impact requirements and should be documented with the same characteristics and rigour as requirements. A decision table is ideal for displaying them. Peer reviews are valuable for writing the best requirements, indicating a healthy work culture. In peer review, select the right participants. E.g. source of requirements, consumer of requirements, etc. You can give participants a checklist of common errors to look out for. Verifying requirements is doing the thing right while validating requirements is doing it right. Use testing to validate requirements before coding to detect errors and missing models. "Start testing after writing your first requirements!" In requirements management, changes are made against a specific baseline which can be time-bound or scope-bound. Changes are never free. It requires scope, time and resources negotiation. Give contingency buffers to manage the time of change.
