Hospice professionals have a special calling. Here are a few words from Gidgett, a Community Liaison with our Victoria office: When it comes to my job, I want everyone to know the true meaning of Hospice. As an individual, you have a choice in Hospice care, regardless of where you call home - whether it’s in a hospital, your home, assisted living, or a nursing home. Altus Hospice offers several specialty programs, including CBD treatment plans and Aromatherapy, which sets us apart from other agencies. It's essential to recognize that hospice care is not a diagnosis, but a care plan designed for individuals with terminal illnesses. Starting hospice care sooner can lead to a better quality of life during the end-of-life journey. Consider engaging hospice services when a prognosis is six months or less, rather than waiting until the final hours or days. This proactive approach enables the hospice team to offer comprehensive support, guidance, and resources to ease the transition. Please reach out to me or your local office if you or your loved one needs assistance. Even if you are at a crossroads and don’t quite need hospice I have over 15 years in senior care and can guide your family in the right direction. https://lnkd.in/gtWYwZRr #Hospice #OurCareFamily #HereForYou

It’s disheartening to see so many hospice companies falling short when it comes to the essentials of patient care and support satisfaction. Hospice care is meant to be a time of dignity and compassion for both patients and their families, but unfortunately, many organizations are missing the mark. One of the key issues is the lack of personalized care. Too often, care plans are generalized, with little attention to the unique needs of each patient. This leads to a decline in overall patient satisfaction and a disconnect in the very support systems families are relying on during an incredibly vulnerable time. Moreover, many hospice companies are hesitant—if not outright resistant—to adding additional services that could greatly benefit patients and families. Whether it’s expanding mental health support, offering alternative therapies, or integrating more holistic approaches, there’s often reluctance to innovate or invest in areas that could enhance the quality of care. Hospice care should be about more than just meeting the minimum requirements; it’s about creating a meaningful experience, driven by empathy, understanding, and a willingness to go above and beyond. It’s time for the industry to step up, listen to patient needs, and commit to evolving services that better align with the complexities of end-of-life care. What changes do you think could improve hospice care? I’d love to hear your thoughts. #PatientCare #HospiceCare #HealthcareInnovation #EndofLifeDoulas
