September is National Recovery Month. Did you know that 1 in 7 people in the U.S. will face substance dependence in their lifetime? Every 10 minutes a person dies from overdose. Only 10% of people with addiction get treatment. Addiction is a chronic brain disease - people living with it deserve the same compassion as those with diabetes or heart disease. Recovery is possible but we have to stop the shame. It’s a treatable illness. #wedorecover #iamapersoninlongtermrecovery #stampoutstigma #recoveryisthenewblack #recoveryispossible #nationalrecoverymonth

𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲🚶♂️ Why 'Low and Slow' Wins the Recovery Race: In the journey of addiction recovery, tapering off medication is a process that must be handled with utmost care. Just like descending a steep staircase cautiously, reducing medication doses gradually—'low and slow'—ensures a safe transition. This approach minimizes the risk of withdrawal symptoms, which can be severe and counterproductive to recovery. By understanding and practicing this method, we prioritize the well-being and long-term health of those in recovery, avoiding the potential pitfalls of rushing the process. 🐢 What's your impression of how fast one should come off medication assisted treatment? Share your understanding with us. #SlowAndSteady #RecoveryProcess #TranscendantRecovery

🌟 My friend Matthew might still be alive today if we viewed addiction differently 🌟 When we see addiction as a lifelong brain disease, we often strip away hope and agency from those struggling. But what if we recognized addiction as a complex human experience—a response to pain, disconnection, and unmet needs? What if we provided safe, regulated access to substances and supported healing through connection and choice, rather than punishment and stigma? 💡 It’s time to rethink our approach. Let’s shift from a model that traps people in cycles of shame to one that empowers them to heal. Matthew’s story reminds us: compassion and understanding can save lives. #AddictionRecovery #MentalHealth #Compassion #Empowerment #HarmReduction
