Skinobs 🚀 The Testing Sourcing Hub for Beauty

⚜️ ISBS World Congress started today with a very nice breakfast to get all the energy to listen to the morning conferences. The 1st session around the #Mechanical #Methods and #Modelling begun with the keynote of Pr Bernard Querleux reviewing the complexity of skin biomechanics and the mixed impacts of pollution diversity and environmental factors. It was a great review highlighting the needs of the mutiscale evaluation combined with measurement devices and clinical evaluation. Mechanical properties quantification can use various devices, the interpretation of the results must always consider the thickness of the studied zone. Indeed the Young modulus value can completely change for example considering sagging claim. Moreover considering the ethnic variability on skin mechanical, the study of Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian and Afro-american subjects confirm that the Afro-american subjects are less impact by this ageing phenomena while Caucasian subjects are the most impacted. Finally, I will say that it is important to take into account the multiscale and layer model that represents the skin using both quantification through Indentometer, cutometer or Dermatoquemeter... and visualization such as Ultrasound (25 MHerz) and also clinical evaluation. Mechanical skin properties is a tricky topic that needs careful evaluation and gather so many claims: dumpling, firming, anti-sagging, restructuring, tonic... Thank you for sharing this review 😊
