“What is necessary is to redefine how projects are implemented and rebuild trust in the markets.” In March, we saw the first peer-reviewed scientific study of over 40 nature-based climate solutions methods that have so far been implemented or proposed for use in the carbon markets. The research identified that while these methodologies used for nature-based climate solutions are largely sound, the process of their implementation requires ongoing improvement. Research shows that up to a third of the mitigation needed to achieve our planet’s climate goals by 2030 must be provided by natural climate solutions.
