Where Did the Time Go? As I sit here reflecting on my 3L year, I can’t help but marvel at how quickly time has flown by—and how much more lies ahead. It’s hard to believe we’re already in week 10! As a first generation law student/husband and father, I feel the weight of this journey deeply. I know many of us are battling a bit of that “senioritis.” It’s a real thing for 3Ls (and anyone nearing the end of graduate school). With graduation on the horizon, it’s easy to lose focus, but we need to remember why we started this journey. We’re living the life we dreamed of as kids, and for me, that means paving a brighter future for my family. Even when life feels chaotic—between classes, family responsibilities, and everything else—peace doesn’t mean everything is calm. It’s about handling the chaos without letting it phase us. As we navigate these final months, let’s keep our “why” at the forefront. Every late night and tough day brings us one step closer to our goals. We’ve worked hard to get here, and I truly believe that the best is yet to come! Keep pushing, my fellow 3Ls! We want to fix things. We want solutions. But there is no one size fits all approach and there is no easy way. 🩹 Getting hurt happens quick.. It doesn't take long before that hurt finds ways to hide deep in our bodies and manifest in unrecognisable ways. So when we are working with behaviours that challenge we must - MUST - know and acknowledge that the child is not the problem. And it's likely the issue is not what it may first appear. Are you committed to seeking to understand and being curious? 💬 Why am I not connecting with this child? 💬 Why is the child not connecting with me? 💬 Why does the child respond differently with a colleague? 💬 What about this environment is triggering for the child? 💬 Why is the reaction so intense? 💬 Does this child really trust me, or do I just want to believe that they do? 💬 What is the underlying need? Every child is different. Every life story is different. And that unique lifeprint is why an individualised approach to education and care is needed. But the common thread is that you remain determined to understand the bigger picture story. Determined to understand 'what happened to you?' ❤️🩹
