As the mining industry accelerates its move towards electrification, energy storage has become a critical focus for companies like Sandvik. Through a new partnership with Glencore, we are embarking on a pioneering pilot project to deploy a second-life battery energy storage system (BESS) at mine sites, supporting essential mine services like lighting and EV charging. Bringing together technology, circularity and recycling, the project will extend the useful life of our batteries, by optimizing their full lifecycle, for environmental and economic benefits. Electrification is such an important move for the green transition, but there are still challenges to overcome, which is why collaborations like this are key. https://lnkd.in/gxuEd7yT #Mining #Electrification #Energy

In the vast landscapes of Australia's mining territories, a revolution is underway, signaling a shift towards sustainability and energy self-sufficiency. Major operators like Rio Tinto, BHP, and Fortescue Metals lead the charge, embracing on-site renewable energy solutions to power their operations. At PPS, we're inspired by this industry-wide momentum towards renewable energy - a movement that aligns perfectly with our values and vision for the future. With over 100 Australian mines now boasting independent power supplies, primarily through renewable sources, we see a clear path to supporting and amplifying such initiatives within our projects and partnerships. The shift isn't just about innovation; it's a response to necessity. Remote mining sites have limited access to the grid, propelling the need for alternative, sustainable power solutions. Moreover, the global demand for 'green minerals' necessitates mining practices that are environmentally conscious and aligned with global carbon reduction goals. #SustainableMining #RenewableEnergy #PPSInnovation #EnergySelfSufficiency https://lnkd.in/gdGxrH9S
