Please check the qualifications of your therapist prior to investing your money on therapy. Alot of practitioners in the market have been practicing life coaching and have started tagging themselves as Psychologists. A life coach does not diagnose mental health disorders nor has the eligibility to perform psychological therapies. Meanwhile, a Psychologist is someone who had an acquired qualifications through years of studies, internships and licence (qualifications vary depending on the country the practioner decides to render their practice.) As the studies of Psychology have progressed over the years, its contributions to one’s Mental Health and society has been remarkable. As society, we have now fully embraced the importance of one’s mental health and we as individuals, have then embraced the importance of therapy and counseling in order to promote a balanced well being. While it seems that the practice of Psychology and life coaching/counseling is the same, it’s not. There are alot of online courses which offer a short cut qualification journey for the practice of life coaching and counseling. But a life coach without a proper qualification in Psychology are not eligible to practice Psychological method and therapies such CBT, Psychotherapy etc. nor administer and perform diagnostic psychological tests. A one year course does not qualify someone to be a Psychologist. As, Psychological Therapies were designed in a way that one can practice them with a proper knowledge and science.

Raabta was born out of a yearning to build a community of mental health professionals known for their care, ethics, and rigor 🍀 It was envisioned in response to the growing receptivity of Indian public (albeit a small section of it) to seek help for mental health issues, and simultaneously in recognition of lack of credible spaces that provide opportunities of continued learning and quality supervision for mental health professionals. It was long dreamed of and longed for, and has finally taken shape in the form of a team of 5 dedicated therapists who are trained in a variety of madalities and whose experience ranges from 1-10 years. At Raabta, we strongly believe that all change that takes place in therapy is ultimately the function of what we call 'therapeutic alliance'- the raabta between therapist and client. We believe in tailoring our techniques and our stance to the unique needs and goals of each client, to their history and their hopes for the future, to their personalities and their current life circumstances. At Raabta, we aim to provide mental health services that are ethical and effective, rooted in a culture of ongoing supervision, a dedication to evidence based psychotherapy (our signature practice being ACT), and a commitment to attunement with the client and the therapeutic alliance at all stages of one's work. Welcome to Raabta, which we hope will become for our clients as well as fellow therapists, Attunement Central! #psychotherapy #counselling #supervision #workshops #internships #mentalhealth #mindfulness #psychology #personalgrowth

“It’s not about what it is. It’s about what it can become.” -Dr. Seuss The astounding amount of training it takes to become a psychologist generally produces professionals who are committed to their craft. In an industry that is so diverse and with so many evolving opportunities it can also be common to feel overwhelmed with where and how to work. Although not commonly shared, many of us have moments of feeling lost! Psychologists tend to be grounded in their interest in people and their desire to actively care for others, however as we come to realise there are: 🌐 Diverse and intricate ecosystems around the people we work with 🔄 Limitless ways to apply our learning to broader contexts 🌳 Opportunities return to our academic roots 👩🏫 Earlier career psychologists thirsty for mentoring Psychologists have so many options of where and how to work! This feeling of being lost is not uncommon... but not many of us share it. So how do we use our own reflective skills to hone our practice and invest in a certain direction or pathway? In an industry where relationships are paramount, when psychologists find job design that engages, energises and motivates them - they are unstoppable. It really does pay to be selective about where to place “eggs” in proverbial baskets. For me, the following questions really helped me to clarify things. This means taking a deep look at what was/is right now vs. what it could become. 🎒 What did my undergraduate classes and masters focus on and did I like it? Put simply... What got me up in the morning when I was training? 👩💼 What non-psychology jobs did I do best in (productivity, efficiency and passion) what made them different to the ones I did less well in? Common factors of the workplace do add up! i.e Did I thrive best in a team or when running my own show? 🔬 Do I have to focus on solely therapy, or do I want to diversify i.e. mentoring, workshop facilitation, public health, research…. 🔋 What clients do I find I get both good outcomes with but ALSO energise or motivate me to be the best psychologist I can be? 📚 What do I enjoy researching, reading and peer supervising most? I knew holistic health and rehabilitation was my passion due to all the above questions. It’s a conversation I have with myself often, and with so many of my colleagues and dear friends. I encourage you, think of what it can become! Passionate, happy and engaged psychologists are what make for happy and engaged communities. #axis #workplacewellbeing #earlycareerpsychologist #performance #psychology #mentorship

I am receiving a bunch of messages in my DMs from people who are on the brink of finishing their Masters in Psychology but are still struggling to find their path. It is so difficult to find a good job in the field of psychology, even if you do find one, it is mostly paying you peanuts, making you work insane hours, and barely gives any benefits. A lot of people want to begin private practice, but they don't really feel confident enough in their skill set, and wonder if anyone would really pay them & come to avail their counselling/psychotherapy service, and stick for the whole process of therapy with them. If this feels similar, 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟑 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: 1. 𝑰𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒚 2. 𝑰𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔 3. A good training program would actually help you to ℎ𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑠 as compared to going for “internships” that ask you to pay a hefty amount, give you a set of questions as case history taking format which feels investigative to clients in sessions and affects your rapport formation with them, and you still don’t really learn how to hold space for your clients. She holds an insightful space for her supervisees, helps us navigate better, holds us accountable whenever necessary, and supports us wholeheartedly. ------------------------ P.S. I am facilitating a training program especially curated for psychology students & budding therapists to hone their skills, learn beyond theory taught in colleges, and work towards their professional journeys. I help psychologists develop their best practise. Board approved supervisor. Passionate psychologist. Writer.
One of the reasons I started writing here was that I noticed themes in supervision with early career psychologists. We'd talk honestly about money, career paths, learning and skills development. And these conversations were helping all my clients who felt there weren't enough resources addressing the early stages of a psychologist's journey. I hoped by sharing the insights from these sessions and my own career, I'd be able to help people navigate this better. So as part of my commitment to helping psychologists entering the industry, I've released a free guide to Continued Professional Development. Click the "Checkout my free resources link" in my bio to watch the free video guide and download a free CPD plan. #supervision #career #psychologist #therapy

Learning to Focus on What’s Within Our Control 🌿 As an M.Phil Clinical Psychology trainee, I’m constantly learning how crucial it is to distinguish between what we can control and what we can’t. This simple concept has a profound impact on our emotional well-being. In my journey, both as a student and in working with clients, I’ve realized how easy it is to get stuck in a loop of worrying about things outside our control — other people’s actions, the past, or life’s unpredictability. But one of the most empowering lessons I’ve embraced is that we can always control our reactions, choices, and attitudes.✨ Let’s focus on what’s within our control: • Our values and what guides us 🌱 • How we choose to respond to our thoughts and emotions 🧠 • The boundaries we set for our mental health 🚧 • Who we allow into our inner circle of trust 👥 This mindset shift has been transformative for me personally, and it’s something I often emphasize with clients. When we stop trying to control the uncontrollable, we create space for growth, peace, and acceptance. 💬 Let’s talk: What’s one area in your life you’ve learned to let go of control? How has it impacted you? I’d love to hear your thoughts below!👇🏽 #MPhilJourney #ClinicalPsychologyTrainee #MentalHealthMatters #FocusOnYou #ControlTheControllable #TherapistInTraining #EmotionalResilience #BoundariesAreHealthy
