The more I went through my recruitment career, the less I advertised! Some of the best recruiters I’ve worked with rarely post job ads. Instead, their first move when receiving a new role is to reach out to their network. - Phone 10 people you know - If 5 of them say yes, the job’s practically filled! Recruiters are busy, so if they trust the 5 CVs they’re sending over, why go through the extra step of advertising? Of course, this isn’t always the case. But here’s the point: if you’re in those first 10 calls a recruiter makes, you’ll see more opportunities coming your way. Start building those relationships! Networking can get you closer to that dream role before it’s even posted.

Miyanda Maimbo shared... And i added my my 2 cents. The one question i always get to ask people when they ask me if they're any openings at my place of work (previous and current work place) is, are you on LinkedIn? If they answer "yes" my follow up question will always be how active are you? Who are the people and pages you follow? Sadly, some people see no value in having an active account on LinkedIn or any other professional online platform. I'm yet to understand why...lol Listen, as a job seeker, I highly recommend spending time on this App. #Networking #Sales #Career

How to network with recruiters when you are NOT job searching: If you are not on the market currently it's still helpful to network. That way when the time comes you can tap into your network and leverage your connections. Most people ignore the DMs from recruiters when they are not job searching. I think it's a missed opportunity. You could be building relationships before you need them. Imagine having a team of recruiters looking out for opportunities for you while you sleep. You'll learn about opportunities you may not realize exist and be a step ahead once you want to get back on the market. Here is what I suggest saying to recruiters in your DMs right now: "Hi (name) - Thanks for reaching out with this opportunity. I'm currently out of cycle and not looking to make a move. However, I'd be happy to learn more about the opportunity so I can share it with people in my network. Let me know how I can help! Thanks, (your name)" Try this kind of response and start building your network before you need it. You'll thank yourself later. _________________ Enjoy this post?
