I love shopping on Vinted. And yet I’ve never enjoyed shopping for pre-loved clothing in charity shops on the high street. A digital rummage is so much more satisfying than a physical one. Unlike a charity shop where you’ve got to sort through an awful lot of rubbish to find the odd thing to tempt you, the Vinted algorithms quickly work out what you like and do a lot of the searching for you, especially if you are consistent with styles, sizing, fabrics and brands. I have uncovered some absolute gems. That’s because every time I search for something, “favourite” an item or interact with a seller, I am telling Vinted what I like. LinkedIn is no different. If you just give it a cursory glance periodically and leave without a trace, the algorithms have no idea what you like and what to give you next time you log in. You’ll struggle to find the gems in terms of connections, content and discussion. You have to send signals to the algorithm so that it knows how to help you find the good stuff: 👍 React to content you find interesting 💬 Comment regularly on subjects that you want to see more of 📧 Use the DM function as a networking tool to build a relationship with useful new connections and nurture relationships with others Be consistent and intentional in your approach and you’ll soon start to reap the rewards. 📸 Photo of yours truly with my last Vinted find, a silk Boden blouse bought for the bargain price of £8
