This week, Google have announced they have discarded their plans to remove third-party cookies from Chrome. But what are they key takeaways for marketers? 🍪 Cookies are staying on Chrome, but this isn't going to change the fact that cookies do a terrible job of attribution. With this announcement, the status-quo becomes the easy path, leaving a huge opportunity for those willing to try something new. 🍪 This really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone at this point. Google is delaying its depreciation of Third Party cookies for another year. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a collective sign of relief from marketers and media buyers (including yours truly alike). The replacement methods they have been working on clearly needs more time, development and testing before wholly replacing third party cookies. Like most of us we have recommended multiple clients to start considering first party data in order to maintain performance long term but this is easier said then done to implement. Have a read 👀 and celebrate one more year of third party 🍪 for now https://lnkd.in/gzNdjGp2

Google once again has decided to delay 3rd party cookie deprecation. We don't know for how long though. Nevertheless, I believe it's good call to not make such changes going into the most lucrative quarter of the year. What now you might ask? I would say we need to wait for CMA's Q1 report to hear more and better understand the reasoning and get a look at updated timeline. original blog post here: https://lnkd.in/dxvQ5ty7

GOOGLE DELAYS | Google's third-party cookie deprecation has been pushed back to 2025, causing ongoing uncertainty over the tools and platforms businesses can use to grow. If you've moved away from 3P cookies per guidance, are you now at a competitive disadvantage for the remainder of 2024? It's exhausting. It's never been more apparent that having control of your data outside of the major stacks is imperative. That's why we've built ZRO Fox and our ZTG Smart Tags. For just $99/month, you can have full control. If that doesn't sound like value, check your options but ensure you have a parallel strategy in place outside of big tech. Shocker, Google postponed its deadline for phasing out third-party cookies to early 2025. Why the delay? Google is balancing input from stakeholders and regulatory bodies. Not to mention, replacing cookies while ensuring privacy and technical readiness won't be easy... Here's what you can do to not waste any time: --> Incentivize your users to share data with you directly --> Shift your ad efforts by aligning your user intent and content context --> Don't work against, but WITH Google's privacy sandbox. Embrace these tools to balance effective advertising with user privacy Personally, I think this delay is a golden opportunity. It gives you some time to review your data strategies, test new approaches and refine your campaigns. Review, test and refine! You'll be thanking yourself for being prepped when those cookies say goodbye. #CookieDepreciation #DigitalMarketing #DataPrivacy

Alright, let's address the elephant in the room... Google has delayed killing off third-party cookies. Again! As a marketer, here's my take: • Originally slated for 2022, then pushed to 2024, Google's now hinting at a 2025 timeline to phase out cookies in Chrome • Delay due to challenges, industry feedback & increased scrutiny from U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) • Brands get more time to prep for the inevitable cookie-less future & explore alternatives • Google's caught between divergent views of industry, regulators & developers • CMA needs more evidence & industry test results (due end of June) before giving the green light Check out the full scoop in this Search Engine Land article: "Google delays third-party cookie phase-out to 2025 (maybe)" https://lnkd.in/gXYreDHn The key takeaway? The cookie crumbles on Google's timeline, not ours. But hey, we'll adapt & thrive like the agile marketers we are! Happy Thursday! Let me know your thoughts.
