Energy consumption of mobile networks is a significant challenge for network operators as they expand 5G/6G deployments based on Open RAN technologies. New Publication: Green Future Networks: Metering in Virtualised RAN Infrastructure The publication, ‘Green Future Networks: Metering in Virtualised RAN Infrastructure’, offers key recommendations to the telecom industry regarding the measurement of #energy consumption in virtualised RAN networks. The publication was jointly developed by the #NGMN membership, including #Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), vendors and research institutes. "Addressing the challenge of managing and minimising energy consumption is paramount within our industry," remarked Arash Ashouriha, Chairman of the NGMN Alliance Board. #NGMN just published a new recommendation on energy metering for vRAN which I contributed to and co-chaired along with Andreas Volk. It also contains great insights from many other participants, providing different points of view.
