We remembered that we almost 10 years ago in Summer 2005 hold the first #E.ON Customer Experience Training in Berlin. Thanks to minds & makers GmbH Martin Beyerle (he/him) & Jan Schroeder and WorkPlayExperience Markus Edgar Hormeß & Adam StJohn Lawrence we were truly early adopter of #DesignThinking and #ContextualResearch . We agreed on the most important learning – 💡 thoroughly understand and empathize with your consumers/target group 💡 best in the context where the future solution should come to life 💡 #ContextualResearch So you put yourself in to the position to be able to create relevant solutions which will love customers and create true value and (business) impact. Tom Fishburne delved deeper into how to not only fuel the innovation process but also how to bring it to life. Very inspiring workshop 👏 Generating innovative ideas in B2B marketing is challenging. It's not because marketers lack creativity, but because these ideas often encounter resistance from gatekeepers within the company, such as legal or top management. Or orginal idea is morph into what Tom refers to 'Newton’s applesauce' a watered-down imitation. But playing it safe is risky. And you can’t avoid clutter by adding more clutter. Meaningfully unique ideas create fear. We need to work with that. You can probably expect WHAT might be the main thread. Tojan mice strategy is way to turn the “death disk” down already in the MVP stage. You can probably expect WHO might be the gate keeper. Involve them in the initial ideation process. Be honest and transparent about the goals, such as how emotional campaigns may enhance brand salience in B2B, despite being uncommon. Ask for their input and ideas from their perspective, which will make them more receptive to suggestions later on. Tom has been hired many times to shake up corporate culture, fostering not just creativity but also issues in collaboratively. And he shared a bits how to start with the process. A Decade of Digital Discovery: Celebrating 10 Years as The DM Lab 🚀 For 14 years, our journey in building this business has been a testament to relentless forward motion. While we usually focus on the road ahead, but some moments and milestones are significant enough to take pause and reflect upon. Today marks the 10th anniversary of transitioning into something we believed in from something that we started. In 2010, this business was nowhere near reaching the potential we knew it had. From 2010 to 2014, we learned and built. The time was right to become The Digital Marketing Laboratory. We don’t look back fondly on the ‘McTip IT’ days. Those days weren’t fun and extraordinarily hard work for little reward. 2014 - 2024 represents a decade of focused and impassioned dedication to that forward movement. Throughout that time, we learned much about application, tenacity, and the satisfaction of committing to breaking through creative and digital thresholds; reaching those business goals through constant, concentrated hard work - all fueled by our passion and vision of the digital world and what we can do for others. Who we are now and who we were back then feels like two completely different ventures - separated only by experience gained, work delivered, friendships created, and a connection to the ever-changing digital world, strengthened and deepened so far beyond what we thought was possible. The memories and experiences that this decade as The DM Lab have given us, we wouldn’t trade for the world. The highs, and of course the lows. We’re honoured that you all have been there with us, every step of the way.
