What if you could borrow a person like you could borrow a book? That's the question The Human Library project asks. I love it! The Human Library is a unique concept where volunteers, known as 'human books', share their personal experiences on various topics to engage in conversations with 'readers'. The non-profit organization aims to address difficult questions and challenge prejudices and discrimination in society. Events are hosted virtually and in various physical locations worldwide. The Human Library project highlights the impact personal storytelling can have, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding and empathy within society. #Empathy #Volunteering #NonProfits #Innovation #Creativity #Collaboration #TeamWork #Leadership

Strategic planning for churches and non-profits has a bunch of issues to overcome. Cost. Collaboration. Communication. Too many strategic plans end up getting printed and put in a drawer, maybe getting referenced during a conversation about planning for the next year. But more often than not, the work the team did is irrelevant and forgotten before it has any impact. What's one of the ways I'm trying to change that? Making a plan's content visible and accessible. One really easy way to do that is building a dashboard customized for the church, ministry, or non-profit I'm working with. Everything we build together in the strategic planning process ends up on this dashboard for the staff, board, and key leaders to reference in planning and evaluating. Lots more to come soon! Creating more ways to help more Christian leaders accomplish more of their mission.

This week's Nonprofit Coffee Chat was another fun and informative gathering where experiences were shared, lessons discussed, and advice was given. Much of our organic discussion was around relationships -- relationships with parents of children served, the Executive Director/Board relationship, and relationships between team members who work in silos. Organizational culture plays a significant role in relationships because of its impact on the attitudes and behaviors of the people in the organization. Using tools and strategies that support a culture where people the organization feel motivated, productive, and satisfied are invaluable to nonprofit success. Here are a few tools and strategies we discussed: • Board Member Self Assessment • A Feedback Loop (for continuous improvement) • Team Building activities More nuggets that were shared included: • Proverbs 4:7 - Get wisdom, get understanding. • Coach Dawn Staley's approach to transforming teams Here's an article worth reading: https://lnkd.in/g2R4KCjk #nonprofit #nonprofits #nonprofitcoffeechat #tuesdaymornings #organizationalculture #relationships #boardofdirectors #accountability #standards #team

Early Childhood Development | Health & Nutrition | Building - LECIN | Fundraising & Corporate Communication | Donor Management
In the last few years, I've come to realize the significance of a strong board of advisors for an organization like Let's Educate Children In Need (LECIN). In 2021, we welcomed our first advisor, Simran Oberoi (She/Her), whose guidance not only connected us with like-minded organizations but also prompted deep reflection on our day-to-day operations, offering invaluable perspectives. This year, my goal is to bring on board more advisors who share our vision and can propel our growth. Calling on fellow founders and leaders for suggestions—how do you engage with your advisors? What criteria do you consider when onboarding an advisor? Feel free to tag individuals from your network who could be excellent advisors for a grassroots organization like LECIN. Your insights and connections are greatly appreciated! #LECIN #AdvisorNetwork #GrowthJourney #nonprofit #leadershipdevelopment

Elevating Brands with Soulful Video Storytelling 🎥 | Founder of Tell Studios, Enroll Films, and Studio Sherpas | Podcaster, Speaker, & Educator
The power of storytelling cannot be overstated, especially for nonprofits and educational institutions. 📚 I’ve often observed how compelling narratives about life-changing experiences can significantly enhance engagement and support. 🌟 Whether it’s a story about a student-athlete whose life was transformed by an athletic program, or a coach dedicated to their mission, these stories tug at the heartstrings and pave the way for potential donors to engage not just intellectually, but emotionally. ❤️🏆 It’s crucial for organizations to leverage both video and text to share these impactful stories. 🎥📖 A well-told story can make someone tear up, and more importantly, feel inspired to become part of your mission. Let's commit to telling more of these stories and making a bigger impact. 💪 Who’s with me? 🙌 #StorytellingPower #Nonprofits #EducationalImpact #EmotionalEngagement #InspirationalStories #JoinTheMission #HigherEd #HigherEdMarketing
