At AnthroMed Education, we are proud to recognize Juneteenth—the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States—as an official annual company holiday. This paid holiday gives our team the space to honor Juneteenth in their own way. We remain committed to supporting under-represented communities and making a difference in children's lives with our K-12 school partners. Our dedicated SLPs, School Social Workers and Counselors, OTs, and all our team members strive to create inclusive, empowering environments for every student. Happy Juneteenth! #Juneteenth #AnthroMedEducation #equityIneducation #specialeducation #AnthroMededu #speechlanguagepathology #schoolsocialwork #occupationaltherapy

It all comes back to the fact that all children learn differently, and parents are a child's best advocate. When we work in tandem with parents and schools, and embrace educational freedom, we create the best outcomes for our children.” - Clarice Jackson In this latest episode of Conscious Pathways, Clarice Jackson shares her visionary approach to education, highlighting the importance of flexibility, collaboration, and advocacy. Public school teacher/instructional specialist and substitute who is currently subbing as well as training and supporting substitute teachers and paraprofessionals.
We have over SEVENTY substitute educators registered for our Southwest Washington SubCommunity event next week in Vancouver, Washington! Last month, when we gathered in Vancouver with subs, we discussed how to connect quickly with students. Guest educators don’t have a lot of time, but we know how critical it is to connect before we correct - especially given that most subs have no relationship with students. I plan to bring up the power of proximity as my favorite substitute “behavior tool.” It really is my most effective strategy. Tell all of the educator friends you have about our FREE SubCommunity gatherings! #SubCommunities #subshortage #conklineducationalperspectives #substituteteachers #substituteteaching #substituteteacher #subshortage #substituteteachersofinstagram #pnwsubstituteteachers #teachersfollowteachers #principalsofinstagram #principalsofinstagram

The current issue of The Special EDge newsletter explores what it looks like to collaboratively and courageously take action to ensure equity. My article highlights our shared responsibility in ensuring equity through a healthy system of support. This is a “WE” endeavor! No single educator or program can “save” students from the oppressions of systemic bias, exclusionary practices, and low expectations. We each have specific roles from the classroom to the county office to the state department of education. We must learn from one another, share successes, and reflect honestly on outcomes. We are celebrating Family Day in support of American Education Week! Family and guardians taking active roles in their child’s education on a daily basis can be crucial for optimal success at school. Schools can ensure parents and caregivers are equipped with the information they need by establishing successful communication systems. Here are a few suggestions: -Consider resource learning sessions that take place where families and caregivers congregate. -Meet at libraries, grocery stores, churches, or community centers. -Account for translation needs in diverse communities. -Offer community-centered restorative practices and events for families, community leaders, and school representatives. For example, set up an event with a dialogue facilitator on becoming comfortable having uncomfortable conversations. What are some ways you have found communicating with families and guardians that has led to student success? #AEW2023

Preschool teachers are more likely to look for signs of challenging behavior in young Black children—especially young Black boys than young white boys (Gilliam et al., 2016). This sobering statistic underscores the critical work we do at the Midwest & Plains Equity Assistance Center (MAP). Our mission of “Equitable, Responsive Education for All” propels us to address these disparities head-on. We guide our partners through the development of critical consciousness which empowers educators to examine their own implicit biases. As advocates for change, our dedicated team at MAP works diligently to provide technical assistance and training, promoting equity and reform. Together, we challenge biases and contribute to a more just educational landscape. Join us in our mission as we strive to eliminate disparities and create a nurturing space for every child to thrive. Let's work towards a future where every child is seen, heard, and given equal opportunities. #EquitableEducation #CriticalConsciousness #ImplicitBias #EducationReform #EquityInEducation #DiversityInEducation #InclusiveClassrooms #AntiBiasEducation #EducationAdvocacy #EqualOpportunities
