Free on Rail (FOR) FOR is used primarily in domestic or rail-related trade. Under FOR, the seller is responsible for delivering the goods to the rail station and loading them onto the train. From there, the buyer assumes responsibility. Ex-Works (EXW) Under EXW, the seller makes the goods available at their premises (factory, warehouse, etc.). The buyer bears all costs and risks involved in transporting the goods from the seller's location to the final destination.

A leading logistics industry player operating a specialized port terminal in Brazil focuses on handling bulk products, 955,000 tons annually. Facing significant operational delays attributed to equipment breakdowns, specifically the bucket elevators' rotary shafts suffering from product leakage, damaging bearings and causing service interruptions. The recurring issue stemmed from utilizing incorrect seals, leading to frequent maintenance routines like monthly packing replacements proving ineffective in mitigating the problem's impact. The resultant downtime, maintenance expenses, shaft repairs, and bearing replacements paled in comparison to hefty demurrage costs amounting to $5,000 per hour. Following intervention from our distributor, the company opted to procure two 7850 series seals for their primary elevator, eventually expanding this solution to their secondary lift with an additional two seals after six months. Subsequently, within a year, they acquired four more seals to safeguard the remaining equipment, successfully addressing the persistent challenge. Eliminating the problem at its root, the company witnessed a transformative resolution that significantly enhanced operational efficiency and reduced costs associated with maintenance and downtime. Cargo Loading onto a Sea Vessel https://lnkd.in/eFBJs6f The cargo arrives at the seaport, where it is stored in a warehouse, and the receipt process is formalized with a receipt act. All details about the cargo arrival are entered into the system. After the sea vessel arrives, the cargo is uploaded onto the ship. The uploading process can have two statuses: "Planned" and "Actual." The shipping details may include the following information: - Port of destination; - Shipping Order number; - Bill of Lading number; - Freight tariff group; - Cost of sea transportation; - Cost of cargo handling services. The system can automatically generate documents such as the "Shipping Order" and "Bill of Lading." When loading the cargo onto the vessel, the following parameters are also specified: - Number of cargo pieces; - Net weight and gross weight; - Volume; - Number of freight units. The freight cost for sea transportation is automatically calculated based on the tariff directory. The freight rate depends on the tariff group. For example, electrical equipment may be classified as "General Cargo"

The EastBridge #supplychainmanagementteam calculated the #DDP (delivered, duty paid) cost for an order of machined parts. Our customer has always purchased #EXW (ex works) and found that our logistics cost for door-to-door service is much lower than what they've been paying. They've asked us to switch all of their orders to DDP term. Great job EB team! #logistics #freight #Incoterms

Methods of container loading🏗️ 1. “Live”. Loading of the metal module delivered to the loading place by the carrier is carried out in the presence of the shipper of the goods or his representative. A certain time is allotted for loading, which is included in the cost of loading work. If this time is exceeded, the additional time is paid by the person/company who caused the delay. 2. “Leave and Pick Up”. The carrier company delivers the cargo unit to the place where it is loaded and leaves it for a certain period, which may be several days. This method is more expensive than the previous one, but allows you to take your time with loading. The loaded container is sealed. 3. Storage loading. The shipper brings the cargo to the warehouse, where it is stacked in a container according to all the rules. The container is sealed and taken to the place of loading on the ship. "Speedy discharge, loading, receiving, and quick delivery in safe conditions to save time and cost are very important daily operational targets to achieve, which are appreciated by all parties involved in the Maritime Industry Business, including Shipping Lines (both Ship Owners & Ship Agents), Forwarders, Stevedoring Companies or Port Terminals, Land Transporters/Truckers, Shippers/Consignees, and Port Authorities as Port Facility Owners. Nobody wants a delay!!! Shipping Lines, both Owners and Agents, will be happy when their vessels can always dock directly alongside with quick, safe discharging operations, and they even reward the stevedores with a dispatch bonus. By quick and safe operations, Forwarders/Stevedores save on labor costs. The Port Facility Owners will be happy as they can allocate the wharf for the next incoming vessel, avoiding common unexpected conditions such as "berth congestion." Shipping Lines will be happy due to direct docking, allowing them to maintain their schedules, which is crucial as Shippers/Exporters only trust Forwarders/Shipping Lines that keep to their schedules. All parties want quick and safe operations to save time and cost. This is our collective responsibility as those working in Stevedoring Companies or Port Terminals (BreakBulk, Container, Liquid, Project Cargo) as part of the Logistic Supply Chain System. Our role as the key to the World Trading Entry Gate is to consistently uphold this daily motto to keep our Customers' Smiles. "Speedy discharge, loading, receiving, and quick delivery in safe conditions to save time and cost."
