I read a post today that made my cheeks get hot. The post was intended to cause friction in people. Blatant “I will win because I have more followers than you. Hands down every time.” I was so disgusted by this flagrant use of negative emotions to gain visibility and traction. But … #Perception is something that is hugely important for your brand. Yes, his tactics and words are abrasive, but maybe his perfect client is the ego. I’m pretty sure inciting this bad-boy behavior is something that must be appealing to the types of clients and followers he wants to attract. Brand is an emotion. If you look at the core of it. You’re trying to reach a place within someone who will recognize you (your brand) or a quote and have an emotional reaction to that thought or image. While dude may be firing up and inciting, he certainly is stoking his brand to feed into what he wants people to perceive about him. Not my cup of dude, but definitely smart branding if his Purpose is to grow a following and sell to egos. #emotionalbranding #emotionalsales #emotionalmarketing #brand #smart #🤮

Habits. There are good habits: like brushing your teeth (2x a day!), checking in on family and friends (any which way), moving your body (walking counts) and reading books (yes, books). Then there are bad habits: like mindlessly eating mini Halloween candies (Reese's, duh), constantly hitting the snooze button (questionable), checking your email too much (avg 74x a day) and .... Vaping. Did you know that 1/3 of Americans in their 20s have vaped in the past week? A friend of mine Hilary Dubin is launching @quitwithjones *today* to help people quit this bad habit. As a fellow behavioral science nerd, they're doing some cool things over there "to be the most clinically effective and design-oriented way to quit this bad habit." Check em 😎 --> https://lnkd.in/eJ9K9VaP Speaking of good habits - what are some of your favs?!

We all know a serial selfie poster. But selfies don't sell. We're not against posting selfies, in fact, posting images with your face in can increase impressions by up to 5x. However, your selfie needs to have context that resonates with your ideal audience. This is a great opportunity to weave in a personal story and give your audience a glimpse into who you are. Here are some caption ideas for your selfie posts: - Tell a story about a personal achievement - Tell a personal story about an epiphany you had that led you to where you are today - Tell a personal story about a client win with the goal of giving them FOMO that they don't work with you - Tell a story about how you used to think one thing, but you have changed your opinion and the reasons why If you want to figure out whether or not the story is relevant enough to post, ask yourself this... "Will my ideal audience be interested in reading this post and will they understand it"? If yes, post it. What do you struggle most with when it comes to telling personal stories? Let us know in the comments.

What do you OWN that you can CLAIM that will drive your business FORWARD. Communication strategy that answers that.
Just got an email. No names. But the headline was: Most men are sloppy. But not you. And since I’m not naming names, I’ll say, absolutely horrible. Does it make me feel better about myself to feel worse about someone else? No. It doesn’t. And I challenge any #psychology experts here to prove that wrong. Much better headline: Let’s get rid of that word, “sloppy.” The ad could talk about how no one likes that word. And everything this brand does to devoted to helping people feel better in their skin, via their clothes! The question for me is, are you paying lots and lots of money for your ads to repel people? Thanks. #positiveresults #brandpositioning
