Meet our longest serving employee, Lyn Rock, aka ‘Rocky’, who just marked her 55-year anniversary with ANZ. She remembers the turn of the millennium when the running theory was date reliant technology would fail and all dates would go back to the year 1900, which for a bank meant that the computer would calculate the usual daily interest at minus 100 years. Lyn was a part of the program leading our response. Starting at the Myrtleford branch, in rural Victoria in 1969, Lyn reflects on how different things were back then, especially for women. "Women had to leave the bank once they were married, they were not allowed to join a superannuation fund until they were 25 years old and women could also not qualify for any type of loan. On the other hand, women (and men) could happily smoke in offices and branches. Thankfully all these practices have been consigned to the historical rubbish bin." Well done 👍
Well done! I thought I was doing ok for 42, but 55 is outstanding
Congratulations Rocky and enjoyable and thought provoking to read your story on my late mother’s birthday. She was a banker too who was sadly hustled out the door on marriage. I wonder who and what she’d have become with the choices available to later generations. Still plenty of hill to climb on gender equality but good to reflect on how far we’ve come.
Now that's commitment and loyalty! Congratulations on your 55 years with ANZ, Lyn. 💐
Well done Rocky. Hope Shane turned up for the celebration. John McFarlane made an appearance at Jim Dusting's and I don't think he was up to 55 years.
Will done Rocky, must have been those earlier years at the school of hard knocks 🤣 that has given you all that energy and perseverance to power on
Congratulations to Lyn on simply an amazing career achievement and to ANZ for providing the platform and environment for this remarkable and very rare employment achievement.
What a wonderful milestone Rocky! Congratulations
What a great story! Congratulations to Lyn on 55 years and an amazing career supporting ANZ and its customers. I enjoyed reading about the experience and significant changes.
Retired ANZ Banking Group
2moCongratulations! You are an amazing woman and 55 years of service means a lot to an organisation like a ANZ. I recently retired after 42 years of service and I thought that was great but you beat me and it’s an awesome achievement. Enjoy
