🗓 UNCEM Piemonte held another online meeting with its stakeholder group on April, the 5th. 👥️️ The meeting involved the stakeholder group working on the territory of Saluzzo municipality and surroundings. 📈 The group has brought some interesting research documents from their activities on the territory, that will be really useful to complete our BS analysis. 📖 We introduced the Peer Reviews activity to the group in order to understand the capacity to carry on a Peer Review in the territory of Saluzzo municipality and surroundings. The group has given positive feedback. It emerges that it will be useful for them to see some approach of the northern Europe country where the approach to migrants’ working integration is more effective through the actors, data are more available and so resources are spent better and optimized. Also, being us an arrival country but not a staying one, the opportunity to understand what these countries/partners offer to migrant that is so appealing for them. Interreg Europe

I always knew that my profession will be connected to #migration, and today I work in a company Ria Money Transfer that is helping people to feel closer to each other. In this video there is a small peace of my migration #experience, which taught me the art of adaptation, the beauty of embracing change, and the importance of remaining open to new possibilities. Language barriers, cultural differences, and the complexities of settling into a new environment are not just obstacles but our opportunities to learn. In a world that sometimes feels divided, the act of sharing our migration experiences becomes a reminder of our shared humanity. May our stories continue to #connect, inspire and remind us of the strength that lies in unity and #diversity.

Big profile interview with Gabriela Bereghazyova, director of the non-profit organization Global Slovakia and co-author of the latest book ➡️SLOVAK SETTLERS, which brings 17 authentic stories of Slovak emigrants, documenting the fascinating history of Slovak emigration (the English version has 44 of them) on the historical context of the emigration of Slovaks to the United States. For example, did you know that: 🇸🇰🇺🇸 There are currently ➡️1.8 million Americans with Slovak roots living in the U.S. (source: OSLA) 🇸🇰🇺🇸 Most of them are in the states of Pennsylvania = 450 thousand, Ohio = 280 thousand, Illinois = 120 thousand (source: 1990 U.S. Census)  🇸🇰🇺🇸 At the end of the 19th and 20th centuries, almost a third of the Slovak population left for a new, better life overseas 🇸🇰🇺🇸 Slovaks became ➡️the second largest group of emigrants from Europe after the Irish. 🇸🇰🇺🇸 At the time of the so-called American Fever, an incredible 750,000 people left Slovakia (entire villages in eastern Slovakia were depopulated) 🇸🇰🇺🇸 Exactly 2 years ago, in April 2022, an amendment to the citizenship law came into force in Slovakia, which allows foreigners to obtain Slovak citizenship much faster and easier = Slovak citizenship can now be obtained by descendants of Slovaks only in the third generation. 🇸🇰🇺🇸 A delegation of descendants of Slovaks living in Arkansas, led by the non-profit organization Global Slovakia, was received by President Zuzana Čaputová at the Presidential Palace in autumn 2023. 🇸🇰🇺🇸 The number of Americans looking for their SK roots and eventually settling in Slovakia is ➡️growing year by year. #slovaksabroad #slovakia #ancestors #americanhistory #slovakcitizenship https://bit.ly/4bUvT5r

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS FROM EU countries: Participate in a fully-funded European Solidarity Corps project in Växjö, Sweden! ”Youth, media and communication project” Who? Youth between 18-30 years old How long and when? 12 months, from 1st september - 31st august  How many volunteers? 2 Working language: English About the project: the volunteer’s role in this project is to assist in arranging activities and developing projects. Here are some examples of tasks for the volunteers:  🔸 Create social media content for Facebook, blog, Instagram and the podcast (to update on what is happening but also promote mobility opportunities and us as Globala Kronoberg itself etc.); 🔸 Plan, prepare and arrange local activities for young people: volunteer meetings, cultural presentations, international camps; introduction for new ESC volunteers; presentations about ESC and international projects; 🔸 Learn how to manage and apply for project fundings. Profile of the volunteer: 🔸 Is interested in international projects and cultural exchanges;  🔸 Enjoys working in a team with people with different backgrounds;  🔸 Is flexible and creative, enjoys both office work (planing, meetings, brainstorming, administration) and also organizing activities with young people (such as info-presentations, meetings, workshops, etc); 🔸 Is interested in digital and social media, photography, and to create promotion material.  ✈️The travel costs will be covered up to the limit and reimbursed after the end of the project.
