CMS may require hospitals to provide set quality training to staff Modern Healthcare (4/12, Devereaux) reported, “Hospitals may soon be required to provide set quality training to staff as part of a Medicare reporting program, but health systems and advocacy organizations are split on whether the standardization of quality-related skill sets is necessary to improve patient care.” In 2023, “CMS began considering whether to add the Patient Safety Structural Measure to its Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program.” If put into place, “the measure would require facilities to report whether they are implementing patient safety curriculums for all clinical and non-clinical staff...and conducting regular assessments of key quality competencies or skill sets as part of the program.” FINALLY❤️

Deadline extended! There’s still time to submit a nomination to join PQM’s Endorsement and Maintenance (E&M) and Pre-Rulemaking Measure Review (PRMR) committees. We are looking to work with individuals across the spectrum of care: patients, caregivers, clinicians, nurses, medical professionals, and health equity and rural health professionals. Submit your nomination by June 21: https://lnkd.in/eQquW85v This is your opportunity to effect real change in health care quality. The purpose of each committee is a little different. Hypothetical situations to ponder: if 77% of Premiers Board were Vizient hospital CEOs, would the question of potential anti-trust issues be raised? If Premier executives made up 77% of one of their major IDNs board, would anyone be surprised if that IDNs compliance with Premier supply contracts was a high outlier compared to other Premier IDNs? If Vizient executives populated 77% of HIGPIs (Health Group Purchasing Industry Initiative) board would any other GPOs trust the agenda? If the Federation of American Hospitals board was 77% HCA Executives(Hospital Corporation of America) would thier agenda be tilted such that other healthcare providers may question the value of membership? These are all hypothetical situations/ questions. But, the Association of Healthcare Value Analysis Professionals (AHVAP) has 77% of its board represented by Premier! Conflict of interest? Why is anyone but Premier, and those on the AHVAP board silent about this? Who directs the AHVAPs agenda? Who has oversight on this conflict of interest? Why should anyone care? I’ve posted on some of the reasons in past posts, but more will come in future separate post. #Healthcare, #CEO, #COO, #CMO, #CNO, #Valueanalysis, #Supplychain, #Nurse, #Physician, #GPO, #HIGPI, #Vizient, #Premier, #AHVAP

Founding Director @ H2F Business Advisory/ Experienced Corporate Financier with extensive Executive and Non Executive experience in publc and private companies/national and international M&A experience.
At a time when GP's are threatening to work to rule and the No 1 complaint is about the extended wait times for doctor appointments, there's a pressing need for a comprehensive review of Primary Care services. GP's, operating as private contractors, lack the same level of public oversight as other public servants. They often work limited hours, leaving gaps in service provision. With the majority of appointments not being face-to-face with GPs, it's crucial to envision the future of Primary Care. A recent study by Ockham Healthcare explores innovative approaches, such as incorporating paramedics, consulting nurses, pharmacists, and other professionals to enhance accessibility and responsiveness without relying heavily on locum doctors. Recognizing the dedication of many GPs, it's evident that there may not be adequate GP capacity to meet growing healthcare demands. Exploring alternative structures is imperative to ensure sustainable and effective healthcare delivery.
