Happy Mashujaa Day! Today, we celebrate the heroes behind Kenya's transition to clean energy and renewable resources. As we reflect on our achievements, it's inspiring to note that as of June 2024, Kenya's installed capacity of renewable energy sources has reached 2,859.4 MW, accounting for an impressive 79.89% of the country’s total installed capacity. This includes 2,427.1 MW of interconnected renewable energy and 427.7 MW of captive renewable energy. Our captive solar PV plants have made significant contributions, totaling 229.2 MW, or 8.02% of the total installed capacity. Meanwhile, geothermal remains a key player, meeting 41.71% of our total electricity demand, complemented by hydro at 24.68% and wind at 13.14%. In the review period, a remarkable 83.00% of the energy supplied to Kenya's national grid came from renewable sources, underscoring our national commitment to sustainability and energy security. As we work towards achieving Vision 2030's goal of 100% renewable energy, we recognize the engineers, technical teams, and stakeholders who are making this vision a reality. Your dedication and hard work play a crucial role in driving innovative solutions and leading us towards a greener future. #MashujaaDay #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #Kenya #Vision2030 #ClimateAction #GreenEnergy #Geothermal #Solar #Wind #Hydro #Bioenergy #EnergyTransition
