Have you ever had trust broken by someone you’ve known for years? I referred my ex-colleague to my client for an exciting role. She accepted the offer, served her notice period, and everything was set for her to start. But on the day of joining, I received an email stating that she couldn’t take the job due to personal reasons. A few days later, I found out she had joined a well-known brand instead. I had no issue with her opting for the other offer, but rather the lack of transparency. Had she informed me earlier, I would’ve supported her decision wholeheartedly! Even with someone I’ve known for many years, she chose to keep something secret. How should we approach candidates or people we barely know? Additionally, after waiting for her to join for 2 months, I now have to restart the hiring process from scratch—sourcing new candidates, scheduling interviews, extending offers, and waiting for the notice period again. This whole process will take another 4 months to close the position #Professionalism #Trust #CareerGrowth #WorkEthics #HonestyMatters #Transparency #hiring #talentacquisition #recruitment #executivesearch #leadershiphiring

Professionalism and respect are fundamental to our hiring process. A recent experience involved a candidate who demonstrated great eagerness to join our organization. Despite her previous CTC and experience not aligning with our usual criteria, we chose to consider her application. Unfortunately, we have faced situations where candidates accept offer letters only to decline them shortly thereafter. Such actions not only hinder our hiring process but also squander valuable time and resources. These occurrences are discouraging and underscore the need for professionalism and dedication during the hiring process. Advice for candidates: Be Certain Before Committing: Fully evaluate your decision before accepting an offer. Ensure the role is in line with your career aspirations and personal situation. Communicate with Professionalism: Should you choose to withdraw, notify the employer as soon as possible. It's important to honor their time and effort. Recognize the Consequences: Understand that withdrawing at the last moment can cause significant disruptions and may adversely affect your professional image. Together, let's uphold a high standard of professionalism in our field and honor the commitment of all parties involved. #Professionalism #HiringProcess #CareerAdvice #RespectInTheWorkplace #JobOffers

I recently had the incredible opportunity to share the Tedx stage with Jasmine LeFlore, MSE, MBA. Her TEDx Talk is titled "It’s Not Only the Resume, It’s also the Un-resume." 🌟 This concept hit me hard because it shows just how powerful the life assets we already have from our personal experiences can be when it comes to our work lives. Imagine more people confidently asking for that promotion or applying for their dream job, not just based on what's written on their resume but also by highlighting the incredible lessons they’ve learned through life. Having been in the staffing industry for 20 years, I used to see so many talented people hold themselves back, thinking their resume wasn’t enough. But if we can harness the power of our life experiences, we could give more people the courage to go after the careers they truly desire. When I was with Go-Staff, we used to create one-page blurbs that showcased a person’s life experiences and how they were a perfect fit, even when their resume didn’t say it all. Now, thanks to Jasmine’s talk, I see a way this can globalize that same idea through the Un-resume! To my friends in the recruiting industry: This is your chance to share this concept with your networks and help more people realize their true potential. You’ll not only empower them but make your job even more impactful in the process! Let’s help spread the Un-resume! Mention it in your internal and external communication channels, your field employees, Associations, Legal teams, HR groups, Application tracking systems, aptitude testing, Payroll companies. Let’s start highlighting the whole person, not just their resume! It’s time to give candidates the confidence to pursue their dream roles, and this shift can make your role as a recruiter even more powerful and fulfilling. #UnResume #CareerConfidence #LifeExperienceMatters #TEDx #StaffingIndustry #DreamCareers https://lnkd.in/gzD2gTBE TEDxSanDiego Audrey Jacobs Jami Lah Holly Smithson Sarah Hassaine Melissa Villagomez Jaye Connolly Sheila Gujrathi, MD Katy Temple Allison Wonders Sandi Masori Silvia Mah PhD, MBA John McVoy Carlos Cervantes Erika Hurt Leslie Cruz (she.her.hers.) Jasmine LeFlore's TEDx talk on the "Un-resume," really got me thinking about how we approach recruitment, especially when dealing with a high volume of candidates. Traditional resumes often limit the view of a person to just their job titles and formal achievements. This makes it tough to spot true talent when you're scanning through hundreds of applications. Her idea of the Un-resume is a game-changer—it brings attention to the personal growth, resilience, and adaptability that candidates might not always highlight. By integrating aspects of this into our recruitment process, like asking about challenges they've overcome or life experiences that shaped them, we can cut through the surface-level information and find people whose potential truly stands out. This approach can help streamline the process and focus on candidates who align more deeply with an organization's values and culture.

“Thought of the day !” Why do you apply for a job which is not relevant to you ? When any recruiter don’t share the JD you demand for it. When they provide u clear JD why do you fail to read and understand that it’s not relevant to you ..? Though you’re in serious hunt of job it won’t change the requirement of the employer instead you’re directly showing the employer that ure unclear about your thoughts and lack of focus. So please avoid, sending random job applications blindly. This will make you realise your abilities and skills that you need to enhance. #randomthought #recruiterlife #hrcommunity

Hiring Manager: I have a vacant xxx role that needs to be filled. Recruiter: Proceeds to search and shortlist candidates for the HM's consideration. HM: Rejects all 20 candidates. We need more options. Recruiter: Why is that? Didn't any of them meet the qualifications? HM: No, I need someone who ticks 12/10 on the checklist!!!!!! Recruiter's Perspective: 🤦♀️ Seriously? Is someone like that even out there? This is why the recruitment process can be frustrating... Why insist on finding a perfect match when a strong 5 or 6 out of 10 could suffice? It raises the question: Are we giving today's job seekers a fair chance? Wasn't someone willing to take a chance on us when we were starting out? To all Hiring Managers: There's no such thing as a flawless candidate. Let's give people the opportunity to learn and develop. #Recruiter'sPerspective #GiveChances

Senior HR Practitioner & Counseling Psychologist: Passionate about people, compliance, technology, innovation, continuous improvement, promote wellness, aligning HR strategies with organizational goals for Sustainability
The elusive quest for a "perfect" candidate. The Hiring Manager's insistence on finding someone who ticks every box on a checklist of qualifications reflects an unrealistic expectation that can lead to frustration for both recruiters and job seekers alike. From the recruiter's perspective, this insistence raises valid questions about fairness and the opportunity for growth. By fixating on perfection, are we overlooking talented individuals who may possess the potential to excel with the right support and development? It's essential to recognize that no candidate is flawless, and instead, focus on identifying individuals with the potential to grow and contribute effectively to the organization. Let's shift our mindset and give candidates the chance to prove themselves, just as others once did for us when we were starting out.
