This story is a powerful reminder of how mentoring can positively impact someone's life and career journey. By sharing our experiences and wisdom with others, we create opportunities that were once out of reach. Mentoring is a gift that benefits both the mentor, who finds fulfillment in guiding another, and the mentee, who gains invaluable insights to navigate their path successfully. Teri Cannon's story beautifully illustrates how a caring mentor can change a person's trajectory in ways that we may never fully realize. Let this inspire all of us to pay it forward by nurturing the next generation of leaders and changemakers. You never know the ripple effect your investment in someone could create. #people #mentoring #leadership
I started a new job at the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery last month. My predecessor left a magazine on my desk that I almost recycled. But when I opened it, I saw my former boss and colleague, Audrey P. Kintzi, MS, ACFRE, FAFP. Now I'm thinking of my beautiful mentor and how I'm still hoping to be as gifted as Audrey someday.

Help NGA Speak Up for You! The National Glass Association (NGA)'s third annual Glass & Glazing Advocacy Days is happening next week, May 14-15, in Washington, DC. This is where using our voice can lead to impactful change for the glass industry. It's our opportunity to influence policy, enlighten agency officials, and engage directly with congressional members on why our industry matters. Here's what we're advocating for, and why it matters: School Security: Ensuring safer learning environments with advanced glass systems. High-Performance Glazing: Demonstrating how sustainable, cost-effective glass solutions contribute to building resilience. Bird Safety: Advocating for glass innovations that prevent bird collisions. Workforce Development: Highlighting a thriving career path within our dynamic industry. Together, we can articulate the essential role of glass in constructing a sustainable and secure future. Are you joining me in DC next week? Sound off. If not, you can still advocate for glass building products and the industry from home. Use our one-pagers to talk to your local reps about the topics that matter to you most: https://lnkd.in/g3n5hv8p And, stay tuned to glass.org and NGA social next week for the latest from the hill: https://lnkd.in/gJ7HVcMX

A new post with a dash of honesty… I am not politically savvy, and being honest I think I enjoy government as opposed to politics (big p); however, I am cognizant of the fact that both go hand-in-hand. I have gotten emotional, even though the number one rule of politics is to not take things personal (FYI: I am a very emotional person). I was not selected to represent the district to the Democratic National Convention. While I could crawl into the cave I call my bedroom, I will continue in my determination by trying to become an at-large delegate of the Florida Democratic Party. I feel like it is somewhat different in regards to being a supporter of a community rather than being in a community; moreover, people with disabilities should have more input in the platform. I hope to support this administration in getting reelected, and being a delegate would be the honor of a lifetime. Here are the reasons that I should be elected: 1. Almost 27 percent of Floridians identify as Hispanic or Latino 2. Almost 10 percent of Floridians have a disability 3. I am able to understand multiple aspects of the Hispanic community that will allow for me to have appropriate cross-communication with this important piece of the electorate. 4. I am a strong and ardent supporter of ensuring that the institutions of public education, inclusive of K-12 and Higher Ed, are supported wholly in policy. 5. I want to have a positive impact in bringing to the forefront issues that relates to people with disabilities. Best, Carlos “David” Gamez #BidenHarris #FinishtheJob #Democrats
I am officially a candidate to be a delegate to the 2024 Democratic National Convention Committee for Florida's 11th congressional district. While I prefer working behind the scenes, it is a time such as this that calls for one to not be a spectator - as the matters dealt with are important for all Americans. This is especially important in considering attacks against democracy abroad and at home. If I am elected, I hope to focus on issues affecting education and people with disabilities. The latter is especially important as it should extend the paradigm in policy beyond the Americans with Disabilities Act into other dimensions (e.g., economic mobility). Sometimes a step on the road to tomorrow has an impact for generations to come. Let's finish the job!

Great to be back again serving as emcee at the 17th Annual Hearts of Texas Luncheon, honoring Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Randy Bowman, Community Partners of Dallas and the Lewisville ISD. Volunteerism transforms lives! Thanks to Volunteer Now CEO, Rachel Currie Triska, for inspiring her incredible team. Americans gave 4.1 billion hours of service to humanity as volunteers last year. There's nothing more impactful than making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. As I share in my keynote address: "Live your life as a go-getter, yet, forever share your life as a go-giver."

ICYMI: A New Era for Bobwhite Quail In order to make significant progress in restoring bobwhite quail populations, wild lands and working lands must work together for the benefit of the life they support and the livelihoods they sustain. That’s why one of Quail Forever’s strategic priorities includes restoring and enhancing 780,000 acres of upland habitat on private land in targeted quail states by 2026. That may seem like a daunting task, but luckily there are proven programs, solid partnerships, and a brand-new opportunity for landowners to utilize. Watch our original film, “A New Era for Bobwhite Quail,” to learn about some of these landmark initiatives while also hearing from landowners who are making – and seeing – a difference for quail populations on their own properties in Georgia and Missouri.
