Does your product have an engaged community along for the ride? Reminder: Community building isn’t just about starting another Facebook group or even a Slack channel. Building community can simply mean giving space for users to share with one another. Interaction, trust, growth. At PopPD, we use live events as a community space. We provide topics and channels for teachers to have panel discussions. Our last event had over 300 teachers in attendance with 10+ panelists and a space for educators to connect and discuss the topics at hand. Where’d we find these amazing panelists? (Hint: It’s not Team PopPD talking.) ✨ They’re our early adopters! ✨ Leverage your most excited users to help build the foundation for your community. For more discussion on this topic, check out John Faig’s recent post on communities in Edtech. Thanks for the inspiration for this post! PopPD #edtech #education #educationinnovation #edchat

In today's digital age, the question of whether we're raising tech-savvy kids or nurturing screen addicts is more pertinent than ever. With screens and technology now essential aspects of daily life, finding the right balance of digital exposure for our children is akin to navigating a minefield. We must ask ourselves if we're integrating them into a future where digital proficiency is vital, or if we're inadvertently leading them into a vortex of overconsumption. While digital platforms offer immense educational and cultural opportunities, it's essential not to solely focus on monitoring screen time. Instead, we should cultivate mindful engagement and establish clear boundaries. This means encouraging exploration beyond the screen, fostering outdoor play, facilitating face-to-face connections, and nurturing non-digital skills essential for a well-rounded personality. Striking this balance is key to guiding our children through the digital maze, ensuring they thrive in both the digital and real-world realms. As guardians of their future, it's our responsibility to navigate with wisdom and intention, equipping them with the necessary tools to succeed. #abkidslifecoach #amitbatra #TechSavvyKids #ScreenAddiction #DigitalBalance #DigitalProficiency #MindfulEngagement #ClearBoundaries #BeyondTheScreen #OutdoorPlay #FaceToFaceConnections #NonDigitalSkills #DigitalMaze #ParentingWisdom #FuturePreparation #DigitalResponsibility #EquippedForSuccess

If you've ever been thwarted by your child finding a workaround to time limits on their screen use, welcome to the club. The good news is it's not your fault-- it's the way these products and platforms were designed. The challenge with specific time limits for screentime is that they do not resolve issues related to kids being sneaky, curious, or deceptive, and phones and platforms themselves *encourage* those very behaviors. Parents, this isn't a fair fight. Don't get mad at your kids-- get mad at Big Tech and EdTech for their manipulative designs that hook and hold our kids' attention. #workingparent #parenting #screentime

We hear a lot about being child-centric these days—shaping everything around our kids, making life as smooth and easy as possible for them. But let’s be real: life itself isn’t child-centric.. It’s circular, linear, rectangular, square, vertical, horizontal—it’s a mix of everything, often all at once. Maybe, instead of simplifying the world to fit a child's perspective, we should encourage them to explore its many different dimensions. Give them the chance to see life in all its shapes and sizes, not just the neatly packaged version we think they can handle. Life isn’t about making everything easy or predictable—it’s about learning to navigate its complexity. So, let’s not overdo the child-centric approach. Let’s give our children the opportunity to learn from the real world, with all its twists and turns. After all, life is a blessing, not because it’s simple, but because it’s rich, diverse and full of surprises. Dr. Sonia Singh #ChildCentric #LifeLessons #ExploreAndLearn #EducationForAll

As we near Father’s Day, I thought it would be a great time to share my thoughts about a challenge that many fathers (and single mothers) face. I am no expert on the topic, but I was raised to believe that it’s a parent's responsibility to instill in their children the skills and values that they need to support themselves as they grow. But this can be difficult as the world of technology continues to evolve. As a father and the EVP of Network Operations at DOCOMO PACIFIC, I’d like to share some tips on navigating through parenthood in this digital era that has helped me along my journey: · Proactively shape your child’s digital habits by modeling healthy tech usage yourself (gaming is fun, but mixing in learning and education can be just as fascinating and rewarding). · Encourage responsible tech use by demonstrating balance (it’s ok to turn off the device and be in the moment with your child) · Prioritize open communication by creating a supportive and transparent environment. (it’s ok to be vulnerable by sharing honest challenges and how you face them, then ask your child to do the same) · Use technology as a tool for enrichment and not a substitute for quality time. (engaging and interactive interaction with your child is the goal.) Fatherhood is a journey filled with many challenges and even more rewards. Successful parenting is dependent on your ability to adapt to changes and set a good example for your children. There is no substitute for quality time spent, and we don’t get any of it back, so invest it wisely in your children. By implementing these tips into your parenting strategy, it could help better equip your children for the bright future we have ahead of us. Happy Father’s Day! #Fatherhood #TechParenting #DigitalAge #ParentingPrinciples #DOCOMOMinds

👀 I’m no parenting expert, but here’s what I’ve noticed: as tech takes over more of our lives, kids’ people skills are fading. It’s not everyone, but it’s a trend. So, of all the things we can give our kids—vacations, education, sports—teaching them how to talk face-to-face might be the biggest gift. 💬 Let’s chat in the comments! Do you agree? . . . . . . . #ParentingInTheDigitalAge #InterpersonalSkills #FutureReady #TechAndTeens #FaceToFace #ParentingTips parenting, communication, tech, skills, future, kids, teens, face-to-face
