Robust governance in turbulent times: successful panels at IRSPM😁 Rising societal turbulence forces public decisionmakers to adapt and innovate public governance to uphold core public goals, values and functions. This insight is intensely discussed in a stream of agenda-setting panels at the IRSPM conference in Tampere. The stream is organized by the EU Horizon ROBUST project. In the first panel, we had to bring in 10 extra chairs into an already packed seminar room to accommodate demand. It was like a Finish sauna, but the intellectual excitement about the new ideas was huge. Thanks for all for your presentations and interventions so far... Svetlana Simonenko will be speaking at the 2024 ACSG Conference 12 - 15 March 2024. Assessment and development centres (A&DC) as the method of assessing competencies focuses on visible participant behaviour. At the same time assessors, HR-professionals and academics recognise that a competency is a combination of the individual’s psychological attributes such as knowledge, skills, character, capabilities, values, attitudes and motivation. Detech carried out research based on data from a development centre (DC) that was completed by top-managers of a large manufacturing holding. The results of this research raise the problem of developing such managers’ competencies to an effectively performing level. The peculiarity of their profiles suggests that the classical development process will have a less motivational effect, since these participants firstly need to be informed about needs and meaning of further education and development. Excellent #IJPBS @capbsuk conference today with global presentations from Australia, Ireland, USA, Netherlands, Japan & Norway with a final summary presentation from Dr Joe Lucyshyn from Canada, chaired be Dr Nick Gore from England, and global attendees. Encouraging to see continued global increase in PBS application (and rapid growth in Norway & Japan), in culturally and contextually specific ways, and behaviour analytic approaches expanding across setting’s & populations (great examples in Nevada, USA). Helpful discussion about development of legislation, standards & regulatory frameworks across countries, and need to ensure creative, person centred, individual focus is maintained (more than ever) with original intent to improve people’s lives.
