The tragic loss of Dr. Moumita Debnath in Kolkata has deeply affected the global medical community, shedding light on the vulnerabilities that healthcare professionals face, not only in India but around the world. The horrific circumstances of her death have prompted widespread outrage and underscored the urgent need for systemic changes to protect those who dedicate their lives to caring for others. Here in the United States, doctors and healthcare workers also face significant safety challenges, ranging from workplace violence to burnout, which can have serious implications for their well-being and the quality of care they provide. The safety of our medical professionals is paramount, as it directly impacts their ability to serve patients and communities effectively. As we stand in solidarity with our colleagues in India, let’s also use this moment to advocate for stronger protections and support systems for healthcare workers everywhere. Whether through policy changes, workplace safety measures, or mental health resources, we must ensure that those who take care of us are themselves cared for and protected. Together, we can push for a safer, more supportive environment for all healthcare professionals. #HealthcareSafety #JusticeForMoumita #ProtectOurDoctors #EndWorkplaceViolence #PhysicianWellness #MedicalCommunity #HealthcareLeadership #DoctorSafety #HealthcareAdvocacy #WorkplaceSafety #PhysicianSupport #HealthcareResilience #MedicalProfessionals #SafeWorkEnvironment #PatientCare #DoctorWellbeing

75% of healthcare workers experience violence on duty. Read that again. This is as per a study by Indian Medical Association. After the horrific incident that happened in Kolkata, all eyes have turned towards the safety of healthcare professionals as well as the safety of women in general. The Prevention of Violence Against Healthcare Professionals and Clinical Establishments Bill was first presented in the winter session of the Parliament in 2022 and was scrapped off by acknowledging the presence of the Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Act, 2020 which in reality does not suffice. The Central Protection Act that is being demanded shall state that : - Any act of violence or targeted violence (caste, gender, religion, etc.) against healthcare professionals or clinical establishments is prohibited. - Those who commit, abet, or incite violence will face 6 months to 5 years imprisonment and fines ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹5 lakhs. - Grievous harm to healthcare professionals will result in 3 to 10 years imprisonment and fines from ₹2 lakhs to ₹10 lakhs. - A District Committee will be established to handle victims' grievances, meeting monthly and providing relief within two sittings. Seeing the situation right now, this bill is the need of the hour along with special focus on the safety of women and children in all sectors of society. I have tagged the ministries in the comments which I think can make a difference. And you should do. We need to build a better and safer future for all. #women #healthcare #safety

What does it truly take to overcome the biggest challenges in #healthcare? It’s a question I keep coming back to, and time and again, the answer is clear— #people. The right talent transforms ideas into reality, turns dreams into breakthroughs, and makes scaling up a goal and necessity. Without the right people, even the boldest vision remains just that—a vision. But with them, the sky's the limit. At HCAH India, we’ve always known this. Our journey has been fueled by a relentless pursuit of talent that shares our #passion for changing lives. Every milestone we’ve hit, and every boundary we’ve pushed, is because of the incredible individuals who’ve chosen to walk this path with us. It’s not just about filling roles—it’s about finding people who want to be part of something bigger, something with a heart. Our recent National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare (NABH) accreditation in Kolkata highlights our team's dedication to providing top-tier care in East India. This isn’t just #rehabilitation—it’s hope, it’s recovery, it’s life-changing care for stroke patients, and those recovering post-hospitalization. And all of it is driven by the extraordinary people who’ve chosen to make HCAH their home. We’re thrilled to have welcomed Dr. Aastik Bhatt and Dr. Saswato Majumdar, two renowned PMR specialists, to our Mumbai and Kolkata teams. Their expertise strengthens our recovery and rehabilitation services. These aren’t just new team members—they’re #pioneers. They didn’t just choose HCAH for the job; they chose it for the mission, the purpose, and the chance to be part of something revolutionary. And that’s the heart of #HCAH. We don’t just attract talent—we attract people who want to change the game and see the possibilities and dare to chase them. We’re creating a place where the best minds come not just to work but to make a difference. So, here’s my question: Are you ready to join us? We’re growing in #Bangalore, #Hyderabad, and #Delhi, and we’re looking for passionate PM& R specialists who want to be part of something bigger—something that’s shaping the future of patient care in India. If you’re ready to be part of this story to make your mark on healthcare, I have just one question: are you prepared to take that leap and make a real impact? Let me know in comments below.

The horrific murder of a young doctor in Kolkata is a stark reminder of the increasing dangers faced by healthcare workers. Our hospitals are meant to be sanctuaries of healing, not battlegrounds. This tragedy is a collective failure. It's a failure of the system to protect those who dedicate their lives to saving others. It's a failure of society to create an environment where respect for human life is paramount. We, as a society, must come together to ensure the safety of our doctors, nurses, and all healthcare professionals. This is not just about their physical safety, but also about creating a supportive environment where they can practice without fear. It's time for concrete action. We need stricter laws, better enforcement, and increased security in healthcare facilities. Most importantly, we need a change in mindset. Healthcare workers deserve our respect, admiration, and protection. Let's unite in demanding a safer India for our healthcare heroes. #HealthcareSafety #JusticeForDoctors #India #Safety #Respect #Healthcare #HospitalSafety

The Day White Aprons turned RED Hands that Heal Should Not Bleed!🩸 #PGDoctors Urgent Reforms -Need of the Hour! What has happened in Kolkata is Tragic and Must Never Happen Again. It’s perhaps a cue to overhaul the system and bring in radical reforms. Lets ensure functional CC TV cameras ,Trained security guards, safe Duty Rooms and hygienic facilities,a stringent federal law to protect healthcare workers. This must become a NORM. They need to be treated better -especially the Junior Residents/Young PG Doctors ,they are made to toil hard ,endless hours Lets begin with their abysmally poor salaries -after 8 years of slogging ,it’s less than 7.2 lacs PA-absolutely no parity with other professions. There is no guarantee that you receive your salary at the end of the month or after a few months. This has been the norm unfortunately for eons and everyone in the system is aware. Software Engineers start off with a 20 lac package Privatisation of Government run hospitals is not a good idea-A Lancet report suggests otherwise. The Poor need better and low cost, subsidised HealthCare. the Government needs to increase its Healthcare Budget -The #HealthcareSector has been receiving a meagre share of the National Budget There is a old saying in India that Doctors are second to God on this earth. Let’s protect them, especially Young PG Doctors-they deserve better. #IMA #IndianMedicalCouncil #healthcare #GoK #PMO #NationalHealthAuthority #NarayanaHrudayalaya #NationalHealthMission

The healthcare services (Govt.) available to urban population in general and to urban poor, need urgent attention to improve overall health indicators of India which are stagnating as compared to many less developed neighboring countries. The National Health Policy (NHP) 2002 acknowledged the need to focus on urban population. National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) was launched in 2013 but has been very slow to take off and gain momentum. The NHP-2017 tried covering this subject and emphasized on the need for moving from token interventions to on-scale assured interventions to organize primary health care and referral services and collaboration with other sectors. It advised for scaling up NUHM to cover entire urban population, with focus on the poor and the vulnerable.... but not much happened... Here's a maternal & newborn care note for my mother, from a doctor of a very small govt-run urban facility in Kolkata, behind my birth certificate, written some 50 years back....that covered: Rest, Diet, Breast Feeding, Post natal check-up for mother and newborn - all of it. I think such care is rare today at our govt-run urban facilities. Any thoughts ? 🙂

#ReclaimtheNight🚨🆘 Hospitals are Not Safe for Women, Following the Rape and Murder of a 31 Year Old Doctor in Kolkata India 😡🏥💔 💔👩⚕️🚨 On the 9th of August, a 31 year-old Female doctor, Dr.Moumita Debnath, in Kolkata India retired to rest in a seminar room at one of India’s hospitals. This was the last time she was seen alive as she was barbarically raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. This ignited nationwide outrage and demands for hospital safety reforms as well as increased protection of women in a culture that threatens women with violence, even in areas that are supposed to be safe. This heart-wrenching, barbaric and tragic incident reveals the severe security gaps in healthcare facilities, where even medical professionals are not safe from misogynistic violence. 🔥 This ignited nationwide strikes and outrage and thousands marched in Kolkata and across West Bengal in the name of the ‘Reclaim the Night’ movement, calling for justice, protection of women, reform in a culture of impunity against men as well as safer working conditions. It has never been more urgent. Doctors are not relenting in their strikes as the push for meaningful change is gaining momentum. 💬🖋️ “Our hospitals should be sanctuaries, not sites of violence,” says Dr. Madhuparna Nandi, echoing the sentiments of many who are now speaking out against the systemic failures that led to this tragedy. The demand is clear: enforce strict safety measures and protect those who dedicate their lives to saving others, as well as all women across the nation. 🏥🛡️ 🌟✊ We need to stand for justice and protect women from any further violence of this kind. Hospitals need to be a safe haven, not where violence occurs and justice must be brought to Dr. Moumita. #WeAreManushyan ♾️EqualHumanBeings #ReclaimTheNight #SafeHospitals #JusticeForDoctors #KolkataTragedy #HealthcareSafety #EndViolence #StandTogether #EndSexualViolence #DoctorsonStrike🌟🔊
