I was once asked in an interview if I’m a feminist. My answer? “I’m a humanist.” While feminism is crucial, it’s part of a bigger picture—humanism. To me, feminism is an essential subset of humanism, because at the end of the day, if we were all truly committed to being human in the fullest sense—caring for one another, ensuring equality, promoting fairness—we wouldn’t be facing the issues we see today.
For me, life is about IMPACT. In the end, it’s not how long we live that matters, but the legacy we leave—the positive change we create.
Gender equity isn’t just a “women’s issue.” Excluding anyone based on gender or any other factor affects us all. It's like a wound in the body—when one part hurts, the whole system suffers.
Let’s look at the numbers. In Australia, women make up just 15% of STEM-qualified occupations. And in aviation? Women make up only 6% of the workforce, with pay gaps as high as 40%. We must fix this.
These numbers aren’t just statistics—they represent missed potential and lost opportunities, both for individuals and our nation.
And here's a thought-provoking fact: Australia’s birth rate hit its lowest point last year since 2006. It may seem unrelated, but this is a crucial issue. Why? Because women give birth to the future—quite literally. They bring into this world the next generation of thinkers, builders, and leaders who will shape the labour force of tomorrow. And if they are penalised resulting in a lack of employment opportunities, growth into leadership and pay gaps, it becomes a sustainability issue for us as a nation.
And we need that future workforce more than ever.
Industries like aviation will rely on a diversity of skills and perspectives. With a population of under 27 million, Australia cannot afford to sideline anyone. If we don’t drive change, we risk falling behind, not just ethically, but economically.
Diversity isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s a necessity. Gender inequality cost the Australian economy a staggering $128 billion last year.
This is why I’m thrilled to be speaking alongside Captain Debbie Slade at the Women in Aviation event on the Gold Coast. If you’re in the area and work in aviation, join us. Let’s start finding real solutions to make this sector more inclusive and equitable.
Together, we can chart a new course for the future. ✈️ #WomenInAviation #GenderEquity #STEM

2moI have had multiple deliveries from Evri where the parcel has been left in an insecure location and stolen. This has lost me hundreds of pounds. Your customer service is awful, and you don't allow any way to feedback to the system, or solve the problem. Please fix this as it is appalling.
