Government of India has been implementing the RoSCTL (Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies) scheme to make textile exports more competitive. Initially launched in 2019, the scheme has been extended several times and will now continue until March 2026 for apparels, garments, and made-ups (Chapters 61, 62 & 63). This extension aims to further enhance their cost competitiveness and provide policy stability for exporters. Rebates: - Rates are subject to review but eligibility criteria remain unchanged. - Other textile products (not under Chapters 61, 62, 63) can avail benefits under RoDTEP. Expenditure: - Quarterly review by a committee to ensure spending stays within budget. - Government can adjust rates and caps based on changing conditions. Implementation: - Fully digital process for issuing transferable Duty Credit Scrips. - Scrips issued without requiring export proceeds realization. Duration: - Scheme extended until March 2026 with guidelines from August 2021 remaining valid. #rosctl #textile #export

Modi’s government would target the export-oriented sectors that face high import duties which hurt their competitiveness, Arvind Virmani, a member of the government’s policy making agency Niti Aayog, said in an interview on Friday. A Modi administration would also focus on lowering trade barriers and improving output-linked incentive plans, he said, adding that the finance ministry is identifying sectors where duties can be reduced.
