Why do we insist on keeping clothes that no longer fit us? FACT - Keeping clothes that no longer fit acts as a de-motivator not a motivator. It's a constant reminder of a different stage in our life, maybe post or pre baby, pre wedding, pre op or just because our bodies change throughout our lives and do you know what that's ok. I encourage all my clients to remove anything from their wardrobe that doesn't currently fit as its so bad for the mindset, especially if you are starting each day looking at clothes that you cant wear as they no longer fit. Would you wear shorts to work? Ok, I'm being honest its not often that I would wear shorts to work, and it only tends to be in the really warmer weather & if the shorts fit a certain criteria. The trick is to making them suitable for the office is what you pair them with and how you wear them: Opt for a more tailored classic style Choose the material wisely - no lycra, nothing see-through or denim Make sure they are an appropriate length. Stick to more neutral colours Pair them with a collared shirt or simple fine knit. Wearing a lightweight blazer or jacket can also make them feel more work appropriate. Add good quality accessories such as a belt, heels or a good handbag. How many times per week do you say "I have nothing to wear"? In most cases when I hear this, the individual has a wardrobe full of clothes..... A lack of confidence is one of the biggest hurdles for the men and particularly women that I work with, and as a consequence their wardrobe reflects how they feel inside. All too easily, every day life can sometimes take over and we lose a little piece of ourselves - having children, being too busy, gaining/losing weight, our jobs, menopause or a life change.
