Serious question: Has being the first in a technology market ever meant being the winner? I’m looking for examples where the first was also the market winner long term. I’m thinking about cases like Friendster, Apples Newton, and yahoo search, but there have to be counter examples. Help me out? #technologyinnovation

Returning to Apple in 1997, Steve Jobs sees the company producing a ton of products. Steve's pissed. “Here’s what we need,” he declared. Atop the two columns, he wrote “Consumer” and “Pro.” He labelled the two rows “Desktop”, and “Portable.” His team's job was to focus on four great products, one for each quadrant. All other products should be cancelled. Here are the lessons Steve taught us: Focus on the core: Identify the essential elements of your product or service and eliminate everything that doesn't add value. Cut the clutter: Get rid of unnecessary features, options, and complexity. A clean, streamlined interface is often more user-friendly and efficient. Leverage technology: Use technology to automate tasks, eliminate redundancies, and streamline processes. Embrace collaboration: Bring together different departments or teams to identify areas for simplification and eliminate silos. Measure and iterate: Continuously evaluate the impact of your simplification efforts and make adjustments as needed.

This is insane! This is the most impressive demo I have seen thus far of a legit use case for Apple Vision Pro 😳 Himels Tech did a 10X better job of marketing the Vision Pro than the entire marketing department at Apple. The best part? This is exactly what Apple meant by spatial computing. The future is here. Notion is undeniably a powerful note-taking tool. However, as humans, we naturally gravitate towards simplicity and ease of use. When a tool becomes overly complicated and requires high maintenance, it risks driving users away. In our busy lives, simplicity is key, and there’s a growing trend toward simplifying our digital lives. In 2024, I noticed more people are seeking out simpler tools that streamline their tasks rather than complicating them.
Why I'm Leaving Notion for Apple Notes…

I'm a technology nerd. You might have some assumptions about what that means. Perhaps I'm an all-in on one brand and dismiss all others as inferior. Perhaps I've picked a team and don't deviate from that. But like in the rest of my life, that's not the case. I like technology and the new for what experiences it gives you, even if I do like to look at and talk about technology specs too. The experiences you get are more important. This leads me to this great review of the Apple Vision Pro I saw: https://lnkd.in/gX9XVfN4 It starts out much like other tech reviews I've experienced over the years. The negatives. The problems. The tech specs and how they compare. Then it does something interesting that many other reviews don't, it talks about the experience. We need more of these kind of reviews, otherwise all we're doing is being the techie version of "armchair quarterbacks". In a previous life, I worked for a tech company that had some competing products in the market with another tech company. A leader of that company ridiculed an employee for visibly having the tech from another company. That leader was being all in on the team instead of being a curious tech enthusiast. It stuck with me all these years because the questions that should have been asked were not asked. Questions like "what experiences does that give you that we aren't?" "what can you do with it that we are not providing?" "how can we improve our products to compete better and provide more to our customers?". Maybe that's my product mind speaking, but I think it's a better way to approach innovation. I think the Apple Vision Pro provides experiences better than anything that came before it. The competition should take note and also innovate. This is how we all push forward and make cool things.
Literally the only Apple Vision Pro review you need.
