Autonomous systems have complex interactions with the real world that require thorough validation methods to test for proper decision-making, learning, adaptation and reliability. While classic validation techniques are useful for testing defined situations, autonomous systems require supplementing these methods with novel cognitive and scenario-based testing given their growing complexity. As society increasingly relies on autonomous technologies, properly validating these systems through rigorous engineering processes emphasizing verification and validation is paramount to ensure transparency, public trust and approval. Traditional testing alone is insufficient as autonomous capabilities advance, necessitating more intelligent validation leveraging big data, business intelligence and continuous self-learning to dynamically assess software quality over time. The validation of autonomous systems poses unique challenges compared to conventional IT systems, demanding regression analysis of control algorithms and truly transparent processes. Future validation must therefore integrate various static and dynamic techniques through an intelligent framework in order to comprehensively evaluate these sophisticated technologies. https://lnkd.in/esZ3pzG
