https://lnkd.in/exSCWh3a Improve UHV Levels During Sample Transfer with These Simple Steps Maintaining optimal Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) levels in your suitcase during sample transfer is crucial for sample integrity and overall workflow efficiency. By following these key steps, you can minimize contamination risks and ensure your suitcase maintains UHV functionality. Here's the recommended order of operations: 1. Rough vacuum: Pump down the loading chamber to a rough vacuum in the E-2 mbar range. 2. Open the FerroLoader gate valve: Open the gate valve to the instrument or Glove Box UHV chamber and wait for the vacuum reading to reach "under range" (UR). 3. Manually open the suitcase gate valve. This gradual approach ensures that the vacuum level in the loading chamber improves to a level safe for the suitcase before it's fully exposed. Why is this important? Directly exposing the suitcase to the high gas loads of the rough vacuum in the loading chamber, will saturate the suitcase getter pump. This saturation would necessitate a time-consuming bake-out to restore UHV functionality. Remember: the gas load at the FIB working pressure (E-6 mbar range) is 10’000 times lower than the rough vacuum. Additional tips: - Minimize transfer time. - Promptly close the suitcase gate valve after transfer. By following these practices, you can maintain good UHV levels in your suitcase, keep samples clean, and avoid unnecessary bake-outs. The Dewatering Screw Press is designed to run in AUTO mode, thus requiring little operator attendance. In AUTO mode the operator can check the status of the equipment and change operational set-points via the HMI touch screen located in the Control Panel. The Screw motor is fitted with a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) which makes it possible to accelerate or slow down the screw rotational speed for optimal dewatering. The Mixer motor is also fitted with a VSD to allow the operator to optimise flocculation for the best possible dewatering results.
