✨ Exciting news ✨ Dear Linkedin community, I'm thrilled to announce my recent certification in Lean Six Sigma! It's been an incredible online journey. In my first week, I've gained an understanding of what Lean Six Sigma is, what it isn't, and why that matters. I've explored the principles of the 5S methodology for workplace organization and how to implement it effectively. I've delved into the Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) technique to reduce equipment setup times. I've also learned about the DMAIC framework (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) and its critical role in process improvement. Additionally, I've reviewed how to identify and eliminate waste to enhance efficiency. Finally, I've examined real-world case studies to see how these tools and techniques are applied in various industries. A Deep Dive with Dr. Alex Bennet: Unearthing the Potential of Tacit Knowledge In our latest Knowledge Management Global Network session of the "Leveraging the Value Creation of Tacit Knowledge" course, we were privileged to host Dr. Alex Bennet, a distinguished leader and authority on Tacit Knowledge (Alex & David Bennet). Our ongoing journey through this course reaffirms a key understanding: knowledge must not be #explicit to be valuable. Recognizing that #tacit knowledge can remain as such opens new pathways to harness its potential effectively. We discussed four transformative approaches to engaging with tacit knowledge: 1. #EmbeddingTacitKnowledge: We facilitate creating new patterns in our brains, allowing innate wisdom to guide our actions and decisions through repetitive practices and deep reflection. 2. #SurfacingTacitKnowledge: We leverage external triggers and self-driven collaboration to bring subconscious insights into our conscious thought processes. 3. #SharingTacitKnowledge: We embrace methodologies like apprenticeship and the artful use of allegories, following Nonaka's Socialization concept in the SECI model. 4. #InducingResonance: We inspire innovation by juxtaposing well-established but contrasting ideas, fostering a dynamic intellectual environment. The engagement of 75 knowledge enthusiasts in this course underscores a community eager to listen, learn, and apply new concepts to the domain of tacit knowledge. Announcement!! 🎉 🎯 ✅ We are hosting the first National Workshop on ASTM E3416-23: Standard Practice for Competency-based Workplace Learning Programs, taking place in Dallas, TX on March 20-21, 2024. Our team of national partners has formally established an innovative national standard for experiential learning programs, through ASTM International’s accreditation and certification committee (E36), denoted as E3416-23. The standard provides instruction for the development and administration of competency-based workplace learning (CWL) programs. Competency-based workplace learning programs are structured learning experiences designed to develop and evaluate participant competencies within a genuine or simulated workplace environment, leading to the award of a credential upon meeting predefined criteria. Examples of CWL programs include apprenticeships, internships, on-the-job training, placement programs, and residencies. This new standard, E3416-23, aligns with existing standards such as ISO 17024 and ASTM E2659, offering guidance for organizations developing and administering personnel credentialing programs. It sets a framework for structured learning experiences and assessments, emphasizing the importance of formative assessments, experiential learning, and the implementation in a real or simulated workplace setting.   To engage with the newly established standard, Dallas College is hosting a National Workshop on ASTM E3416-23: Standard Practice for Competency-based Workplace Learning Programs. This workshop presents a unique opportunity for participants to gain a basic understanding of E3416-23 and create prototypes aligned with the standard, further contributing to the development and implementation of high-quality competency-based workplace learning programs. #competencies #workbasedlearning #standards
