Beyond the obvious, here are three things you could do to help yourself if you are finding things difficult at work: 1. Find another job. Not easy. The toughest thing to do. Allows you to see if it is better elsewhere. 2. Request Flexible Working The advice that we would give to others. Can highlight the problems through a different lens. It's your legal right as you well know, so gives you protection. 3. Raise a grievance HR raising a grievance is not seen as a popular move. It is what will get your views heard and answered. Strategic Partnerships Manager at CreaThink Solutions | Driving BPO & EOR Excellence | Cultivating Business Synergies for Growth
HR professionals have become the guardians of employee mental health, but they themselves are not immune to the toll it can take on one's well-being. With staggering rates of attrition and an alarming percentage contemplating leaving the HR profession, the issue of burnout looms large, disproportionately affecting HR staff. All is not lost, however. Employer Of Record (EOR) services can act as a supportive mechanism, potentially reducing the stress on HR departments. By taking over the legal and administrative aspects of hiring, payroll, and compliance in international expansions, Employer Of Record (EOR) services free up HR professionals to focus on the well-being and development of their teams. It's a move towards a brighter, more sustainable future, where HR professionals can fulfil their roles with passion and dedication, knowing that their administrative burdens are lightened. https://lnkd.in/gzkdPAPH #Hiring #HumanResources #Technology

Director / Head of HR at Employee Management Ltd (EML) | HR, Employment Law and Health & Safety Support Provider
THE A-Z OF HR & EMPLOYMENT LAW 🤔 After struggling a bit with ‘J’ and ‘K’, things get more straightforward again with ‘L’. Let’s talk ‘L’ong term sickness absence! 🤒 A few months back, a leading #HR software provider reported the results of their review of #sickness absence which considered data gathered on approximately 2,000 UK SMEs. 📈 It showed that there has been a 45% increase in such absence rates since 2019, with the businesses concerned recording an average of 133 sick days in 2022. 🤮 This comes not long after data from the Office for National Statistics revealed that between June and August 2022, approximately 2.5 million people were off long term sick, up from around 2 million in 2019. 🤔 Why? Well, the ONS' director of economic statistics cited the following as factors: 1️⃣ "conditions related to mental health, particularly in the young"; and 2️⃣ the number of people "having musculoskeletal issues, so problems connected to the back and neck, with...the increase in home working contributing to that" . ⚠ Working in #HR, I can confirm that the support we provide to employers in dealing with employees whose mental health conditions have resulted in long term #sickness #absence has never been in more demand. 🆘 We advise employers on how to deal with these situations from an #HR, #EmploymentLaw and #HealthandSafety perspective. We even get out onsite and help manage the corresponding sickness absence processes for them. 👩⚕️ We also provide the interventions necessary to treat the conditions that are causing the #absenteeism, with our very own Joanne Howley being a: 💥 certified #LifeCoach; 💥#NeuroLinguisticProgramming Master Practitioner; and 💥#LEAP certified #Equine Facilitated Psychotherapist a Senior Member of the Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists Register (ACCPH). 💡 So whilst our HR team is busy helping you administer the #absencemanagement process, Jo can be setting about addressing the root cause of the absence in question. 🆓 Talking about the absence management process, you can download a FREE copy of our ‘Managing Absence – Long Term Ill-Health’ factsheet by clicking on the link I've placed in the comment below. 📞 Or if you have a live issue in this regard and could do with some tailored advice around the situation at hand, drop me a note or give me a buzz and let’s have a chat. #absence #absencemanagement #ssp #sickleave #disability #mentalhealth #mentalhealthatwork #wellbeing #mentalhealthsupport #wellbeingatwork #wellbeingmatters #employeewellbeing #hypnotherapy #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawarenessweek #equinetherapy #equineassistedtherapy

HR that isn’t pink and fluffy. I provide business owners and decision makers with straight up, commercially aware, HR solutions.
Are you finding it difficult to recruit and retain employees? Workplace absences are at a ten-year high. In a recent article by the CIPD, they quoted their ‘Health and Wellbeing’ report* showing that the average rate of employee absence is now almost 8 days (note: pre pandemic, the average was just under 6 days). In addition, according to the report, more than three quarters of employers have reported stress-related absences in their workplace – both in short-term and long-term absences (and being the leading cause for the latter). As a HR consultant, I work with companies to address such issues. HR isn’t just about grievances and sackings – I work with employers long-term to create an inclusive and positive workplace culture. I can help organisations to implement a preventative approach to ensure absences and related issues are kept to a minimum; and where they do exist, the employees are comfortable to speak to the senior leadership team about their issues. In turn, I encourage employers to put support procedures and processes in place. If you need support for your organisation’s HR, I am an independent and highly experienced HR consultant, and I would love to have a chat about how me and my team can support you. #HR #WorkplaceCulture #HealthAndWellbeing *see the link to the CIPD report in the comments below. According to MHR, 50% of HR Staff are on the verge of quitting due to burnout. 🚒 A new trend is emerging where HR staff are feeling burnt out and considering leaving their jobs. This is due to a confluence of factors including new UK employment regulations and increased demands from candidates seeking more support. To add insult to injury, HR departments often go unpraised for their efforts. Their work is frequently confidential, and the recognition of a business's successes tends to go to other departments, like sales reps or account managers. 😔 Shockingly, another study carried out by Ciphr revealed that HR is perceived as the least efficient department within most organizations, by their own employees. It doesn’t take a genius to see why so many people in HR are unhappy.🤔 To prevent a mass exodus from your HR team, it's crucial to provide them with the same level of support they tirelessly give to everyone else. 🫂 If you want to learn how to do this, drop me a message. 📩 #hrsupport #burnout #wellbeing #healthandwellbeing

BURNOUT IS REAL! Selfcare isn’t selfish. I attended a session at #SHRM2024 with the talented Dr. Felice Carlton about this important topic and found that what I was feeling is normal. What I found so interesting about the session is that she talked about us as HR practitioners, as well as our organizations. We always worry about our employees or our clients before ourselves. Putting everyone else first. However, if we don’t take care of ourselves, we cannot be our best self to provide the best for our employees. Therefore, if I can provide advice to all of my HR friends out there: Self Care Is NOT selfish! It is ok to say NO. It is ok to take time for yourself. It is ok to prioritize our needs too. #selfcare #qualityoverquantity #hr #SHRM #cnyshrm #humanresources
