The Committee chaired by our CEO Mikel MABASA and facilitated by myself, plays an important role in the automotive ecosystem. Through the Committee we address topics related to: - The development of homologation compulsory standards; - The development of fuel emissions standards; and - Facilitating vehicle safety requirements. The Committee works closely with key local and international stakeholders and regulatory authorities to ensure that the South African automotive sector's activities are aligned with best practice and in compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. The high voltage battery main contactors may overheat. Remedy Dealers will replace the high voltage battery junction box, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 30, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S56. Vehicles included in this recall that were previously repaired under recall 22V-412 will need to have the new remedy completed.

NHTSA warns of ‘cheap, substandard’ replacement air bag inflators; BMW issues Takata recall The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a grave warning about the dangers of counterfeit air bag inflators. These substandard parts, often manufactured overseas and sold at significantly lower prices, pose a serious threat to the lives of used car owners and buyers. In recent months, three fatalities and two severe injuries have been linked to these defective inflators, which can explode upon impact, sending deadly metal shrapnel into vehicle occupants. To protect themselves, consumers are urged to thoroughly investigate the history of any used vehicle before purchase and to have it inspected by a qualified mechanic. NHTSA also recommends avoiding online purchases of automotive parts from unknown sources, as these are more likely to be counterfeit. The agency is working to combat this issue by collaborating with law enforcement to identify and apprehend those involved in the distribution of these dangerous parts. Additionally, automakers continue to grapple with the ongoing Takata airbag recall, a separate but equally critical safety issue affecting millions of vehicles. Their objective is to offer all homologation services from a single source. 🚗🔍 In the face of rapidly advancing vehicle technology and constantly changing international regulations, there are advantages in having a single point of contact right from the development phase of a new vehicle generation. The tests required for the type approval are carried out directly at the test grounds – an efficient single-source process thanks to the pooled know-how and resources of ADAC and TÜV SÜD. As the amount and complexity of software-defined vehicles rapidly rise, there is an increasingly urgent need for a barrier-free, safe and secure interface between the industry on the one hand and the approval authorities on the other.
