#MBAapplicant? You may be wondering how to address the optional question you're seeing on your applications, typically worded something like this: If you feel there are circumstances of which the admissions committee should be aware, please explain them here. (e.g. unexplained gaps in work, choice of recommenders, inconsistent or questionable academic performance). This essay is for additional context around a weak spot in your application. Did you get a C in calculus? Or withdraw from your courses your sophomore year to help a family member? Do you feel that your lackluster GMAT score isn’t indicative of your abilities? If you are going to address a low grade in an analytical course or a low GMAT score, don’t make excuses. Spend the majority of your word count demonstrating your ability to excel in rigorous academic or professional environments by using specific examples. Provide information on similar classes in which you achieved excellent grades or give details about a professional pursuit that resulted in success. If you are speaking to a more sensitive situation, perhaps a big mistake or legal issue that impacted your GPA, spend approximately 20 percent of your essay addressing the situation. Then use the remaining 80 percent on the actions you took to improve and what happened as a result. Do not make excuses, simply address the situation, placing the emphasis on what you learned. Remember, everyone makes mistakes, taking accountability and moving forward demonstrates maturity. #MBAadmissions #BusinessSchoolApplicant

Speechwriter/ghostwriter for Devedjian (Minister), Balladur (Prime Minister) and Sarkozy (President of France). GMAT 800 with 5,000+ students accepted into top BSchools
Understanding How Your Academic Profile is Evaluated Dr Huber replies to Dr Huber Q: How important is my academic profile in the admissions process? A: Your academic profile, including your undergraduate record and standardized test scores, is crucial but only one of the determinants. We take a holistic approach, considering all elements of your application in combination rather than assigning fixed weights to any single aspect. Q: Should I aim for the median GMAT or GRE score? A: It’s more important to consider the range of scores within the admitted class. Your test score is evaluated in the context of your overall application. Half of the admitted students score below the median, so focus on strengthening your entire application rather than obsessing over a specific score. Q: How is my academic history evaluated beyond GPA? A: Adcoms look at your transcript in detail, considering the difficulty of your major, the institution you attended, the range of courses taken, and trends in your performance. This helps us understand the whole story behind your GPA and academic preparation. Q: How do you assess my quantitative preparation? A: Adcoms evaluate your exposure to courses like calculus, statistics, microeconomics, finance, and accounting. However, not having taken all these courses isn’t a dealbreaker. If you haven’t studied statistics and microeconomics, consider taking them before starting an MBA. Q: Do you prefer the GMAT or GRE? A: Adcoms have no preference between the GMAT and GRE. You can choose the exam you feel most comfortable with. Q: What is the Behavioral Assessment? A: The Behavioral Assessment is a non-cognitive test that measures competencies related to business school success. It helps us get a fuller picture of your potential beyond traditional academic metrics. While it won’t decide your application, it provides valuable additional insight. Q: How do you weigh where I went to school versus my performance? A: Your performance in your courses is more predictive of your success than the prestige of your undergraduate institution. We assess your academic achievements and potential rather than just the brand name of your school. Dr Huber +33 7 50 57 84 44

Schools have already started to release their essay prompts for 2024-2025. Don't fall behind on the other aspects of your application while waiting for all your target programs to release their essays. Senior MBA Admissions Counselor Jennifer Jackson is here with tips to help you make your life easier for round one applications this fall. 👉4️⃣ Focus on GMAT/GRE preparation. If you don’t have a GMAT or GRE score that you’re happy with—or one that falls in the 80% range of the schools you’re targeting—buckle down and study. If you are retaking the test, identify the areas where you need to invest the most effort. Consider hiring a tutor to get targeted assistance. Make sure you understand the differences between at-home tests and those at a test center, as well as any related restrictions, before you set a test date. 👀Stay tuned for more tips from Jennifer as she guides you through the MBA admissions process. ⭐More about Jennifer Jennifer’s clients have gained admission to all M7 and top 20 MBA programs, earning nearly $1 million total in merit scholarship awards and Forté fellowships If you have questions about applying in round one or the MBA application process, schedule a free consultation with a Stratus counselor. #MBAjourney #RoundOneReady #AdmissionsTips #MBARoundOne #MBAR1 #MBAapplication #Bschool #Businessschool #MBAprocess #M7Schools #Top20MBAprograms #fortefellowship

Ph.D. Student merging data + culture for holistic solutions | Higher Education Expert | Data Analyst | Policy Reformer | Researcher | Professional Troublemaker
During our conference today, the topic of assessment and academic preparedness came up. My question to the presenter centered around nuance(s) in assessment data. While they can be used to gauge some levels ( usually centered around a student's ability to persist in college), there is little information regarding academic rigor, soft skillsets, and the foundation to excel in college courses. In my experience, institutions recruit scholars that are great on paper, but struggle significantly with soft skills and "common" knowledge. Question at large: Is there a way to restructure or rethink how we are assessing college readiness to include soft skill assessments and critical analysis? 🤔 If so, how would that change the landscape (if at all) for how we "do" college? #academicexcellence #academicpreparedness #highered #management #assessment #educationreform #education #educatorcommunity #collegepersistence #collegeadmissions #advising #academicadvising
