I came to the UAE in 2022 in the month of November. I immediately started job applications, remember going for so many interviews and i would only go through the first phase never got a call back. I applied over 300 jobs including sending personal emails to recruiters but nothing came any fruits. After 2 months of job searching i finally got a job as a waiter and i was so happy. Now one and half year what did i learn; 1. Know your rights In this country very many companies would mistreat you just because you don't know your rights. 2. Choose quality over quantity Everyday they are hundreds of jobs opportunities. Choose a career that you are sure you want to pursue. 3. Make connections As in every other country who you know matters alot especially when you are job searching. 4. Know how to distinguish between friends and colleagues. Your colleagues are not your friends anyone can throw you under the bus if it benefits them. 5. Racism It's subtle but definitely there especially with jobs . 6. Quality of life Food, Services and Housing is very expensive. ( But I get free which is good.) As I celebrate one and half year of being in the United arab emirates.
