In Bathurst for a very important corroboree to commemorate the bicentenary of this day in 1824 when martial law was imposed on the Wiradjuri people in Bathurst. This is the first corroboree on top of Mount Panorama for many, many decades. Here to learn about the colony-sanctioned slaughter of Aboriginal people in this area as part of what’s now known as the ‘frontier wars.’ The Wiradjuri call it the ‘homeland wars’ since it was their home. Today’s a good day to read about what happened, learn more about our shared history. And historical truths we were never taught. Only through truth and understanding can we heal and come together.

There's definitely a need for open family conversations about estate planning. I was at an estate sale where the son wanted to junk everything but was persuaded to let a company host a sale first. The father had passed away earlier, followed by the mother more recently (one was a jeweler and the other an artist). I understand that not everyone chooses to keep these items for their own personal reasons, but I really hope they find new homes with people who would cherish them. #estateplanning #art #auction #financialadvisors
When a loved one passes, managing family collections—whether art, antiques, or heirlooms—can be challenging. It’s not just about the items themselves but the memories and legacy they represent. The recent experience of Rosa de la Cruz’s family in the Miami art community highlights these complexities and underscores the need for open conversations and estate planning to ensure the seamless transition of valuable collections. Featured in a recent Crain Currency article by Andrew Cohen, the story includes insights from Denver & Family Office TIGER 21 Chair Douglas Johnson and other experts on making informed decisions around estate planning for family collections.
