Happy #WomensEqualityDay! Today we reflect on the courage and industriousness of women throughout history while also recognizing the challenges yet to be met and the accomplishments yet to be realized. ApprenticeshipNC is proud to support women's participation in North Carolina's workforce, and we will continue to work to ensure they have the skills and knowledge they need to have lasting careers in their chosen professions. Every March, we celebrate the achievements and history of women as part of Women’s History Month, and today is International Women's Day! Each year the National Women’s History Alliance chooses a theme for Women’s History Month. The theme for 2024 is "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.” "It takes courage for women to advocate for practical goals like equity, diversity and inclusion when established forces aim to misinterpret, exploit or discredit them. Throughout 2024, we honor local women from the past and present who have taken the lead to show the importance of change and to establish firmer safeguards, practices and legislation reflecting these values. Following decades of discrimination, we are proud to celebrate women who work for basic inclusion, equality and fairness." -National Women's History Alliance Women's History Month & International Women's Day is a great opportunity to explore women's contributions throughout history. A few ways you can further celebrate and advocate for women is to support women-owned businesses and organizations, support initiatives that encourage girls and women to pursue education, get involved & volunteer for women's organizations, and actively listen to and amplify the voices of women. #womenshistorymonth #internationalwomensday

Happy Women's History Month -- March -- We celebrate the courageous women who have helped our Nation build a fairer, more just society. Throughout history, the vision and achievements of powerful women have strengthened our Nation and opened the doors of opportunity wider for all of us. Though their stories too often go untold, all of us stand on the shoulders of these sung and unsung trailblazers — from the women who took a stand as suffragists, abolitionists, and labor leaders to pioneering scientists and engineers, groundbreaking artists, proud public servants, and brave members of our Armed Forces. Despite the progress that these visionaries have achieved, there is more work ahead to knock down the barriers that stand in the way of women and girls realizing their full potential — in a country founded on freedom and equality, nothing is more fundamental. That is why my Administration has put women and girls at the heart of everything we do. When I first came into office, I established the White House Gender Policy Council to advance their rights and opportunities across domestic and foreign policy. I also released the Nation’s first-ever National Gender Strategy to advance gender equity and equality across my Administration — from women’s economic security and leadership opportunities to freedom from gender-based violence and equal access to education and health care. Women are seated at every table where decisions are made in my Administration — from our first female Vice President, Kamala Harris, to a record number of female cabinet secretaries to the most diverse set of judges ever nominated to the Federal bench, including Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. March is Women’s History Month! Women historically have been sidelined, marginalised, discriminated against and overlooked both in their daily lives, in the historical record and for their contributions across society. As roughly 50% of the population at any given time, women must have and did play significant roles in how our communities and societies have been structured and developed. Ensuring that they get 50% of the historical storytelling is at the core of the month to then increase representation throughout the rest of the year. When women campaign and succeed, history tells us that they raise the level of inclusion and equality for everyone. Therefore, this women’s history month we are not going to tell you about famous women from history but about how women s activists have changed the societies around them to shape all our lives and benefit all our futures. Find our curated list of resources aiming to engage primary students and inspire secondary students as well a list of general resources focusing on women activists below: https://buff.ly/3UUFzI3 #WomensHistoryMonth #WomensSuffrage #HAWomen

Happy Women’s History Month! The National Women’s History Month’s theme for 2024 celebrates “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.” The theme recognizes women throughout the country who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions. Women from every background have long realized that an uneven playing field will never bring equality or justice. Many feel the critical need to speak up and work harder for fairness in our institutions and social interactions. During 2024, we recognize the example of women who are committed to embracing everyone and excluding no one in our common quest for freedom and opportunity. They know that people change with the help of families, teachers and friends, and that young people in particular need to learn the value of hearing from different voices with different points of view as they grow up. Yesterday, marked the beginning of Women's History Month. This year's theme is celebrating women who advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion. I have seen a lot of changes regarding women's rights over my lifetime. Many do not understand what women experienced in the 60's and 70's. Those who fought for equal rights deserve to be celebrated as we continue strive for equity, diversity and inclusion. We've come far, but we still have much further to go. For every dollar earned by men, women on average make 84 cents. Women make up 27% of the U.S. Congress yet we represent 50.4% of the population. Fifty seven percent of women are in the workforce. Fifty eight percent of total college undergraduate enrollment is female. Women CEOs run 10.4% of Fortune 500 companies. Sadly, in the past year, we have witnessed an erosion of our personal rights which has put many in dangerous medical situations. Women are disproportionately victims of sexual and domestic violence. As a self employed woman who participates in numerous women's professional groups, I appreciate the way women approach challenges, their attention to detail, and their support for one another. Let's celebrate our accomplishments and continue to set goals for the future. I for one, would love to see a woman as our president! #womenshistorymonth #women #equity #diversity #inclusion #equalrights
