Remember - "this too shall pass" - means that the good and the bad will always end. It is always temporary so do not get caught up in either or you will stay stagnant. Let's have a good week! #apt #staffing #quote #mondaymotivation

OWN BOSS: Everyone should have the right to be their own boss. That is the right that the self-employed want. Labour are focused on one side of the argument - assuming everyone wants to be an employee and needs protecting from the barons! (1) Assume their are two ponds: self-employed, employed. (I'm not going to discuss Worker for now). (2) Let the parties chose which pond they want the engagement to be in. (3) The question then becomes - what about the coerced? I'm not a fan of misclassfication due to the one-sided bargaining power of either party. (a) Do you want the work and to feed your family or not, (b) Do you want to get the work done or not? (4) For the 3(b)'s - who cares. They are probably earning a few quid and can look after themselves. (5) For the 3(a)'s, that is an issue. But, it's a rights issue, and should never be a tax issue. (6) Zero hours contracts on minimum wage for the 3(a)'s where there is ongoing regular work, is the fault line. The solution: The minimum wage for guaranteed hours needs to be lower than the minimum wage for zero-hours based contracts. To do that, stick say £5 or £10 an hour on the minimum wage for non-guaranteed hours. Then sit back, and watch firms hire people as employees. That solves a large part of the problem. It will create another problem - the unpayrolled people. Some may have fake payslips, but tax hasn't been paid, and so on. Trust me, this goes on. Where that happens, criminal offences, debt transfer to directors, and the full fury of the law. But, really, for those of you who have been watching AI closely, many jobs will be gone in 5 years. We are going to need a universal basic income. #freelance
