A recommendation from Cath's Garden Plants 🌱 Cornus ‘Norman Hadden’ AGM (flowering dogwood) is a great addition to a garden providing a stunning display of creamy-white flowering bracts in May-June (early summer). It can be grown as a larger shrub or small tree reaching about 4– 8m in 10 – 20 years. It is deciduous but the leaves turn reddish in autumn & the flowering bracts are followed by red strawberry-like fruits in autumn making it a superb variety providing a long season of interest. As it matures it also develops a peeling bark. It is hardy & will cope in a sheltered or more exposed situation in sun/part-shade in any reasonable soil. It requires little or no pruning only cutting off any branches growing in an unwanted direction, diseased, damaged, congested or crossing branches so once planted requires little or no maintenance. Just remember to continue to water until it is established especially in drier periods. Garden Pot refresher: all pots must be clean and dry. Remove any leaves, dirt, or plant tags (these usually have a number they can be sorted into at the Hub). These two bins were dropped off earlier with puddles of water and leaves in them. Sprinkles from rain will happen, but more than that we need you to hold onto until they dry out before bringing them in. Thanks for your help in keeping to these specifications!

A pop of nature is perfect for any style, but also helps freshen the air in your home. Here are some easy to care for plants that we love: 🌿Any pothos (can be propagated easily in water) 🌿Snake plants (treat these like succulents and water when soil is completely dry) 🌿Monsteras (need higher humidity, but easy to care for) 🌿Hoyas (can withstand more than your typical plant with their waxy leaves) 🌿ZZ plants (have rhizomes to deliver water to the plant that look like potatoes) 🌿Philodendrons are beautiful (but grow quickly and need a lot of space, humidity, and bright, indirect light) Whatever you love, just don't over-water! Top 10 Berries for Container Gardens by Ken Lain, the mountain gardener Blueberries - Lowbush blueberries generally need more space to creep than a container can provide, and rabbiteye varieties grow too large for containers. The better choice is a highbush variety, and better still, the dwarfs or half-highs have been bred specifically for small spaces. All are available now at Watters Garden Center. A sunny spot is ideal for most potted blueberries. However, where summers are unrelentingly hot, afternoon shade keeps the berries plumper before harvest. All blueberries like regular watering, but do not like to sit in wet soil for prolonged periods. Make sure their containers have proper drain holes at the bottoms. We have several varieties that are self-fruitful, but all blueberries produce heavier when planted in pairs. Planting two different types is useful for extending the harvest season. Blueberries start fruiting from year one, and each additional year becomes more abundant.
