Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy’s Post

Are you familiar with the REDUCE Act (H.R. 7279)? Keep reading to learn what this bipartisan legislation aims to do and how to advocate! Reps. Don Davis and Lloyd Smucker introduced the Remove Duplicative Unnecessary Clerical Exchanges (REDUCE) Act (H.R. 7279) which aims to eliminate the requirement for a signed plan of care for Medicare beneficiaries if the patient already has a signed referral. Currently, Medicare mandates that physical therapists (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs), and speech-language pathologists (SLPs) must obtain a signed plan of care within 30 days of evaluation, which can pose challenges if the referring physician is unavailable. The REDUCE Act seeks to alleviate administrative burdens on healthcare providers and streamline patient care processes by removing this requirement, ultimately enhancing efficiency in healthcare delivery.
